I fitted a lower temperature fan switch to mine. The fans come on at 84C.
Given we have summer days of +40C, I felt it would make a difference when stuck in traffic.
I also found that keeping the speed above 60km/hr helps a lot with keeping the engine cool(er).
Interesting. Do you know what model the switch was?
Does it make a significant difference with the fans coming on that few minutes earlier?

Hi Dale,

Sadly, I have NFI what it is. I picked it up a long time ago from someone on this forum.

It does make a big difference. The temperature never gets above 85C or maybe 86C (on a really hot day and stuck in traffic).
Oddly enough, the temperature never drops below 77C (apart from seeing a 76C one very cold night) once it's warmed up.
It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.

One of the mods that folk do to older Lancias (such as I have) to stop them boiling their brains out and warping cylinder heads, is to fit a lower temp fan switch (as Viking has done) and a thermostat that opens at a lower temp than standard. These are available for most cars (if you search around) as high temperature or tropical options. Possibly something to consider for those fortunate enough to live in warmer climates.
