You'll have to forgive me if I've told this one before - it's me age you know!

Our club used to meet at the local Little Chef car park as it was huge with lots of empty space. We had all sorts of bikes, old and new, and same could be said of the riders. So there we were gathering for rideout, and there was a BMW rider complete with Sam Brown (that should have told me something) pulled into the car park and parked up on his own a bit away from us.
Well people who didn't know us often did that till they were sure they were welcome so muggins here went over to say hello.

When I said "Are you her to ride with the DMEC?" he looked me up and down and said

"I don't THINK so! "

So I said 'suit yourself' and was pleased to note that by the time we left a while later he was still on his own .
I love winding people at the classic meets up. Really does make my day. The one's that make me laugh the most are the ones who have recently retired, gone out and bought a restored bike from a classic dealer, and then profess to know everything there is to know about them. The most effective way to piss on their cornflakes is the line "well, I want it to go and I also want it to stop. Not something that came as standard out of the factory" :D :D .. I also ride my 50 year old bike like a complete bastard with no regard for historical significance.. Ye know, like they used to! :smt002
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the saddle.

The tragedy of old age is not that one is old, but that one is young.

Try asking Gill, Mart.....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Got in before me, Graham :smt001

But, I was thinking more on the lines of "what must it be like to f***ed by a living simulacrum of a statue of the Buddha? Poor Hanna"

I've owned a GL650 AND a CB500T. Oh, and a GS250 and an XS400. Also a Vespa 50 special. I clearly have impeccable taste in motorcycles.

Can't understand all this fuss about BMWs.
I love mine!
It's very economical, (better than the Falco).
Very quick, (nearly as quick as the Falco).
It has incredible grunt, (286 ft.lbs. of torque).
It's small, but just big enough for what I now need.
Has excellent build quality.
It has shaft drive. (and RWD).
Plus ABS, Traction control, dynamic stability control and all sorts of other stuff.
Then again, like the Falco, it's not much fun in the snow!
It's handling is superb, although the suspension is a bit firm, but OK with me.
AND it qualifies for cheap Road Tax.

Then again I still love my Falco, which is the best and most reliable and most soulful bike I've ever owned.

As for the BMW, mine has four wheels.
BMW 123D M Sport 2 litre twin turbo diesel.
Yes I know some T***S drive bigger cars with the same badge, but with a drive this much fun, it doesn't bother me.

As for the BMW GS, not my choice of bike and never will be, but hey it's a bike so not all bad, but I would never spend that sort of money on that sort of bike. Like Graham I find the sports tourer riding position much better than the GS type position even at my advanced age!
