Andy you are not alone in your view of things however I realize different views are strongly held and are not going to be changed by logic and realism. I can't be arsed to get into the specifics on this Forum as for me its primary purpose is to share and benefit my love of motor cycling.

Agreed Keith
I wasn't planning to amplify my comments but as I got a request to explain I felt I must.
I'm not planning to get drawn in further - other than my love of motorcycling is shared with friends in many countries - including the EU.

You could have told me to jog on with my request. Although I like to hear other peoples opinions.

If we all thought the same it would be incredibly boring.

Anywho.

Our shared interest is what keeps me here, anything else you want to disagree on you can all piss off :smt002

I wouldn't be so rude - and it was a fair question

The ones who will bitch and moan about not having a big enough house for their brood of 10+ kids, but won't get off their arse's to do anything about it. No better than illegal immigrants IMO. There are genuine cases where people who want to go out to work are unable to. Now you can argue that if they really want to, they will find a way, but knowing a chap in this situation, it really isn't as simple as that. On the other hand, I know people who will use every trick/con/scam in the book to stay out of work and have their lives paid for without stopping to think where the money comes from.. Just as long as it keeps coming.
Annual cost of benefit fraud is £1.1 - £1.2 bn; anothe (approx £4bn more is 'lost' through what the government statistics call 'errors', e.g. over-payments).

Annual cost to the Treasury of large-scale corporate tax avoidance/evasion* - £ 70 bn- £110 bn (depending on which reports you read); so who are the real scroungers here? The rest of us 'little people' have to make up this shortfall.

As regards the EU, many forget the main reason for its creation - to bring an end to centuries of war in Europe (particularly between France & Germany, with their neighbours and allies inevitably being often dragged in), by tying nations so closely together by trade that war would be unthinkable. So far, it's worked - no European wars for almost 70 years - Europe hasn't known such a period of peace for centuries. The EU is worth every penny just for this.

I forgot about the corporate toss pots..

Anyway. Agree with Andy and Keith in that this is a motorcycling forum, and not a place to vent such feelings. Sometimes I get carried away, and pro-euro BS is something I love to argue over..lol. We're all friends here, and I'd hate to spoil that with a difference of opinion. There is a load more I could add to this, but I think that'll do.

As has been said, if we're all going around with the same idea and same opinion, then it would be a very boring place indeed.

Friends? :smt006

Excellent. A mature meeting of minds, probably agreeing to disagree, but with respect for the other point of view. I've been on other forums where something like this would be followed by 15 pages of bloodletting. So glad that's not the case here.

Well done everyone, and carry on...

i think that the other mods and admins would agree

we VERY rarely have to step in

and friends indeed - i class most of you lot as such

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
