All cancelled except for the firework display ..... let's hope for a few spectacular incendiaries to get blown towards the NIMBYs.

Interesting that they are going ahead with fireworks ..... I guess they don't make any noise ...... NOT !

My son was telling me that he'd heard that almost all of the complaints came from just 2 people who have come to the village within recent years - apparently one of whom made more than 70 of the complaints.
I'm not certain of the accuracy of this report but it wouldn't surprise me.

Theres a lot more to this story than meets the eye really.

Being 'local' I've kept an eye on whats happening.

Mallory did have a restricted noise-day planning permission, as does Silverstone and Donington etc but they flouted this and also built a MX track without planning......

At the 11th hour, they tried to wind up the holding company for Mallory to which the planning permission applied and sell to a 'new' company which wouldn't be bound by the permission. This failed.

I love Mallory circuit, saw Sheene and others race there back in the day, watched BSB, done many track days there, been to Triumph Live, seen The Stranglers, watched Fireworks etc, and it will be sad if it closes and has houses built on it, but its not just NIMBY residents to blame.

Someone will buy it. Lets put in a bid!

Rename it Aprillory Park!

I can contribute £2.45.....

i may have heard something completely different. As you may well be aware the company i currently work for are the biggest sponsor of the 1000 bikes festival, which as we all know is synonymous with mallory, my boss that organises our part of it has spoken to the VMCC and they strongly believe that the festival will be there next year....
i will obviously keep you all updated as and when i hear further snippets of information.

I was at the Classic Bike show last weekend and got talking to a chap that puts on Classic Bike track days. He reckons that the Mallory Park owners have been taking the piss for years, possibly decades. They had got to the point where there was an event on at Mallory one day in every three throughout the year; bike/car testing days, race days, track days and events like 1000 bikes. I forget the number of days per year they were allowed, but they were way over the allocation and just basically ignored the council.

Once people start complaining and found out the facts, it was only a matter of time before the Council had no option but to close Mallory down. Sad, but the owners appear to have been the architects of their own downfall.

Shame they didn't think to do a deal with Zero bikes and electric & hybrid car companies for experience days.
A few of those scattered through each month would have increased the quiet day use and significantly raised the PR stakes making it pretty unpalatable for the council to shut them down.

Oh well - hindsight is a pretty useless thing
