Well clearly I am just soft judging from these replies. I'm happy to ride right through winter but in 30C - no way.
But changing the subject just a little I am intrigued by how many of you wear at least part leather rather than textiles. I had an off 7 years ago today wearing textiles and as a result have a mangled right leg with areas of skin graft thanks to gravel rash. So I've kept thinking of getting a two piece leather suit but so far have failed to find one with decent warm weather ventilation at a sensible cost. Any of you use perforated leather?

We went for a ride to Filey today. All the gear - leather jacket/trousers/gloves/boots for both of us (despite SWMBO's protestations). Bloody hot in Sheffield - much more pleasant nearer the coast.
In France we use a combination of ventilated textile jackets (with body armour/back protector incorporated) and kevlar jeans. Using full leathers in the temps that it can get to in the South of France is simply unsustainable. I can highly recommend ventilated jackets in hot weather. Makes a huge difference.

A mate of mine had a set of full race leathers that had ventilated panels on the inner arms/thighs and underarm areas on the trunk (i.e. the bits which tend not to come in contact with the ground in an off) and rated it a huge improvement over standard full race leathers.lazarus wrote:So I've kept thinking of getting a two piece leather suit but so far have failed to find one with decent warm weather ventilation at a sensible cost. But in winter you freeze your nuts off, of course...

I took a pair of Draggin Jeans with me to Spain last year. Very bulky and hot, I think I'd have been cooler in full leathers.

I don't class 30C as exceptionally hot. So I'll be out in Draggin Jeans and leather jacket.
However, if it's 44C in the shade and you're wearing black leathers, it's a bit on the warm side.

It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.

I've got a wolf 2piece with lots of ventilation a zip out thermal liner for roads and a dannisport 1piece for the track, has less venting and is bloody heavy and like Jay it was bloody hot waiting in the sheep pens on Saturday...also have a shoei winter jacket for those cold days and it's. very warm.
wouldn't think of riding in jeans unless they were good quality kevlar and even then not far.

Must admit, with this weather I'm hankering after the cool summer gear I had in the 70's - t-shirt, cut-off jeans, cowboy boots, & piss-pot helmet. Survived the only potentially serious crash I've had in that gear too, on a CB750 K6 - the car came off worse - hit a Triumph Dolomite sideways on, through overtaking everything riding back from a weekend in Hawes, came to a tight bend, nowhere to pull in, carried on until the Dolomite got in the way. I got a bent footrest, scuffed crash-bar, & bruised foot - Dolomite had a big hole in its back wing. It was wonderful to be young and immortal.
I've just invested in a mesh jacket; quite looking forward to riding to Dorset in a glorified string vest

Hood jeans, mesh jacket, but I may wear leather jacket (which has fabric elbow to armpit panels) for travelling to Lincolnshire, if so I must remember to empty the outside pockets and ride with them open.
when it gets hot (30 is very hot for me) I find a wetted white t shirt over the top of leathers helps to cool down, and wetting the necktube helps a lot too
