Funnily enough mine is being temperamental at the moment too. It's as if they are all too old and want to give up on life.

Surely not Alad I always got the impression he was the much younger if not quite so streamlined of the two :smt020

Ive spent a lot of time looking at the fuel supply wiring !
Dont recall seeeing any unused connector on the relay side.
The pump wiring is blue with green trace, as is most of the fuel supply wiring.
Check you have voltage to the pump relay. If you got power there, disconnect the block connector from main loom to tank ( 3 wires, rectangular connector ) see if you have power from the relay.
If power from the connector, suspect pump or pump wiring.
Hope this is some use

well, to update folk - nothing doing - have checked fuses and relays, checked for loose connections etc - so, i think the next thing is too check the actual fuel pump itself.... I rather fear that I may have to cancel some of the meets I was due to attend soon :(

Right - fuel pump primes with power direct to it. Swopped relays over - still no priming of fuel pump.....

So, is the relay being supplied with power?

This is so similar to my long term woes. Everytime I removed pump from tank and bench tested it it worked as I was running a direct earth to it.
The fuel pump was the culprit, got it working by wiring an independant earth to it, but in the end, that failed to make it work.
Griff found the problem and said you would never find it with out diagnostics.
Get a new fuel pump and see how you go ( £50 ish from breaker )
EDIT the problem was the pumps internal earth breaking down so could not work when coupled to loom earth

Gulp - now you mention it, I remember reading about the same thing happening to someone on the AF1 forum - caused them massive headaches as well. Can you actually get at the faulty wiring and repair it, or is it a throw away and fit replacement jobbie?
