ride out

#18 Post by lorenz90 » Thu Apr 26, 2007 11:35 am

was thinking of going to rye sunday anyway as forecast excellent.

one thing, why go A27? there are grotty roadworks at bedding ham -past lewes ,
and one point i really need to makeLOTS OF UNMARKED PLOD ON A23!!! :smt018 :smt018 :smt019
SERIOUSLY, they are on a mission to curb speeds due to several (car) fatalities, plain, audis, mercs, mitsubishi evos, you name it.....
brighton will be heaving if it really is 25 on sunday and a23 practically one big gridlock. :smt009

apologies its always hard planning a route that pleases everyone full credit to you for organising it, and please don't take offence and think i'm being really negative but this is my area and i think you can have way more fun if you try this.

[If you are early and carry on turn right on a272 onto a281 you get to the chalet cafe at cowfold, usually packed with bikers too]

A281 route=fantastic! a272 route=fantastic!
but:instead of turning onto a23 carry on a272 to haywards heath, thru newick, turn right to maresfield then carry on a272 to a21, groombridge (where jwg m/cycles are),

turn i think its 2nd or 3rd right(not at the traffivc lights (past that) onto the Battle road (b2096 i think?? but please check!)

p.s. [if you take the first right this will take you to horam and wessons cafe/bike shop]

lovely twisty route at the end follow signs to hastings./rye i think, turn left onto a21 towards and you can come into rye on the most beautiful twisty road,(you come near the train station, (bear right then left and park on the quay. the strand cafe will be packed whatever time you get there.

timings to meet you on the way are a slight glitch, so don't know if you want to arrange a meet point time on way?
If you're not upset by my suggestions it would be good to get the aprilias out together? If you want me to lead for a bit where i suggest i don't mind
(however i do, 30 in 30's 40ish in 40's and the rest fair game, except no double whites overtakes if at all possible - if you're ok with that then fine)
ciao! :smt001

Took your time to post up Lorenz - but glad you got here in the end!

I know you'll make all your PC availability excuses - but they won't wash with us - we know you posted up on AF1 well before posting here!

:smt018

Hope you all enjoy your rideout.

Lo Lorenz, Thats very decent of you, can we take you up on your offer?

I'll pm you my mobby no, in case I get lost :smt002 :smt103

How about meeting at the cafe at Cowfold? Don't know what time it'd be but I'd guess and say 11'ish.

I stick to the speed limit as well in 30's and 40's (don't fancy getting caught by plod and then them telling IAM :smt012 )

ride out route

#22 Post by lorenz90 » Fri Apr 27, 2007 2:20 pm

please note , route subject to change according to rider's brain scrambling on the way, its been a while since i've done this one but we'll give it a go:smt013

hope to bring some copies with me, but just printed at work and look a bit fuzzy.

I will follow normal riding practice i do with mates,

If pace is too slow for you don't moan about it when we arrive :smt018 , if you think you can do better no problemo,

i've done a mixed route should suit most people apart from track day racers/fiends
If you know the way, please feel free to pass (safely) and see you there.
Please Just let the tail know you are separating so we aren't waiting for you unecessarily.

ride at your own pace!!
I have no idea what your abilities are and will be probably very mixed group.
person at the back is always playing catch up and tends to actually ride faster than others just to not get lost, that way lies the straight on corner.

don't worry if anyone gets separated front of pack will stop each time we turn off at a junction/r/bout though if we get a really big turn out we'll have to do 2 groups.

I keep to 30 and 40 where possible and i don't overtake on double whites intentionally, if you do its your licence

Generally the route is cowfold/haywards heath/newick/piltdown/maresfield/heathfield/battle/rye

Remember this is supposed to be fun, not a race to the flag.

see you sunday, 11am at cowfold, away by 11:30 ??

Looking forward to this.

I've been looking on the old RS for the post that covered group riding, if I find it I'll post the link here.

The rain is reserved for you northern types :smt003.

Should be better still next time, after all it takes time to understand others riding habits.

I've got an hour of cam action as well, just need to upload it and provide a link. Might get a chance tomorrow. :smt001

Uh?! - Northern?!

Not sure that many of our Scottish or North of England friends would class me as 'Northern'.
I'm a Berkshire chap who's been exciled to the Midlands ..... there's a lot of miles from here to the north coast - or even the Scottish border.

..... mind you, to our Antipodean friends we're all Northerners - so maybe I'm guilty as charged!
