In the end I fitted 2 washers on each bolt, 4mm, to ensure the end of the bolt didn't stick out of the nut, as it was when using the old sprocket. Everything was working very well on my way to work this morning, nice to notice the extra va-va-voom going down to 15T on the front

You always have a choice
I had mine geared on a 15t last year but changed it back for a long road trip (some motorway runs in there).
I have to say, around town and especially low speed roundabouts it is soooo much better with 15t.
I have just this week changed it back to the 15t again but haven't been out as I'm doing the brakes. Hopefully be out on the bank holiday though.
