funnily enough, I was chatting with a local falco pilot last week and he said that his brakes were pulsing... i had a quick look at the front disks and lets just say they were no longer floating - ie, stuck solid

I have offered to help him short them out - I suspect that the pulsing will be gone afterwards :)

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Hi Mango

We seem to have near identical Falcos.

Your comments have made up my mind about the Performance pads, I have to say not been that happy with the Ferodo pads.

So I will be ordering a set of 95's and give them a try.

And to Performance Friction's credit, I requested advise from their website yesterday and within a couple of hours someone called me to discuss options available and what each pad would give.

Mick

I'm sure you'll be very happy with the PFC 95s and the PFMs. I'd be very interested to know how much the pads are retailing for in the US, though. I bet it's quite a lot less...

Hi Mango

What cans do you have on yours?

Ordered tyres from SMC Rosso Corsas, very good price. So not the same their

You can order from the UK PFB, they sell direct, one internet reseller quoted £79.99 including delivery, waiting to here back from PFB

Do you ever have a run out to Market Rasen?

I've got a set of Akras on mine - real bargain off the forum. ScottyNI sold me the pair for a bit over £200 ISTR. They sound excellent...

I haven't been to Market Rasen - is it a biker's haunt? I've lived most of my biking life in the Midlands, in Stafford. So my playground tended to be the Peak District or Wales.

I have almost standard braking system on my falco (except for galfer lines) It stops very fast and very efficiently, what more can i ask? only one thing....a better ratio on my master cylinder. I would like to be able to stop with just 2 fingers and little effort.
The brakes on the Falco are awesome, other than a radial master cylinder i dont see much point in changing anything else IMO.

Pazzo or pazzo copies paddy - 40 quid very well spent - the adjustment and altered angle on them does make a huge difference IMHO

So much so that I will fit a set to hanna's bike - they may be the ones currently fitted to mine but....

gotta agree with paddy, standard setup with decent pads is spot on, but what i think happens at times is pads get glazed up with everyday normal use. why i say this is first ever trackday i done on the falco i noticed how good the brakes became. after a good heat up and work out 130 mph til around 20mph lap in lap out they properly bedded in an started working right, not that i noticed they were bad. so give your brakes a good heating now and then!! i'm now running radial 4 pad setup on ebc pads, pretty decent.

I'm not dissing the standard setup; it's excellent. But ductile iron discs and matched pads are better.

Sorry.

Bit of a spring bump!

Just waking the old green dear up from her winter slumber and the front brakes are... pulling almost to the bar. Looking at the pads they are a bit low so thinking of adding new pads, fluid and a bleed to the to-do list.

I've got standard disks which look completely unworn so was thinking of getting Galfer pads.

Good choice? I'm not looking for the be all and end all, the originals have ample performance for my needs :)

Which reminds me. We really need to try and get the oasis greens together for a photo :smt002.

When you bleed the new fluid through, don't forget to do the nipple on the master cylinder as well.

I did the calipers first and master cylinder last, and got perfect lever pressure. There was a big air bubble waiting to come out of it.

I have always used gold fren sintered pads. They grip well and they last for a long time.

Another area to look at on the disks is that the bobbins rotate freely. Road much can clog them up, providing similar characteristics to warped disks (pulsating lever, jerky stopping, etc)
