I've just been doing a service on mine and have filled with silkolene (15W50).
I've not been for a ride yet - other than starting it to move a few yards into my garage.
As I stopped and selected neutral I thought it went in a lot easier than usual (though that might just have been my imagination or that I've replaced old oil with new).
It's early days but it did feel sufficiently different that I made a mental note of it.

Not my usuall luck i ordered a new jet along with a few bits and bobs from griff today, even though it will be a few days before it arrives i thought i'd give it a go...and blow me the jet more or less just fell out with the assistance of the tooth pick 75 stamped on the side so roll on number 40.
Whats the plan now furygan are you going to keep trying or are you going to opt for the different oil? by the way when you say it wont budge do you mean it wont turn at all? or it wont draw out the hole?

That's the bit i need to confirm, never had a go myself. Griff tried twice last year so not sure if it was fixed in place or couldn't be drawn out, I'm dropping my bike off on Mon for a service and some work to be done so I'll confirm and have a chat with him, then pending the outcome may have a go myself, will mention the oil choice to him but i'm sure he's upto speed on that one...but you never know?Shetland Woody wrote:Whats the plan now furygan are you going to keep trying or are you going to opt for the different oil? by the way when you say it wont budge do you mean it wont turn at all? or it wont draw out the hole?

I knew it, my luck that is, this is a bit off topic but just mentioning it. Driving home from work tonight and the fe*king turbo went on my car grrrrrrr but i'm going to say sod it and not let it bother me too much, money i don't really have and could be better spent on the bike but hey thats life isn't it never mind.Shetland Woody wrote:Not my usuall luck i ordered a new jet along with a few bits and bobs from griff today, even though it will be a few days before it arrives i thought i'd give it a go...and blow me the jet more or less just fell out
Furygan, hopefully it's just the drawing out thats proving awkward, easier than it not turning. Hope you get it sorted

Are you all re-shaping your screwdrivers to fit exactly? I had to shave the sides down on mine and re-shape the end of the blade a little to get it to fit properly. Just a thought.

Tolerance will be our undoing.

Was I just lucky then?
Took the new jet, used it to select a screwdriver that fitted from my selection of screwdrivers (in various states of repair).
Without further fettling, used it to remove the old jet, used it to screw in the new jet.
Job done easy as you like (for a change)

Thats a shame, but as D-rider said earlier if it wont come best to leave it alonefurygan man wrote:Just dropped bike off with Griff and he said it wouldn't budge when he tried it so stuck with the original one!!Shetland Woody wrote: Furygan, hopefully it's just the drawing out thats proving awkward, easier than it not turning.
