Hi all,
I'm looking around for a tankbag to carry stuff for the daily commute (water-proofs, lunch, etc). The Oxford stuff looks pretty good.
I'm leaning towards getting the 'humpback' tail-bag and the base plate thing that lets you turn it into a tankbag. (But it looks like it might be a bit too tall to use it as a tankbag all the time...)
Does anyone have any useful comments, please?

The Rocket centre at Blackburn do a genuine Aprilia tank bag for around £40, via mail order.
Got one just before Christmas, look good quality

That's half the price of the Oxford kit! (Doing a quick currency conversion in my head.)
Although I can't seem to find the tank bag on their website...
Might have to zap them an email...

Hey all,
I got a reply from them overnight.
The tank bag is 40 quid, but freight to Oz is 50 quid!
I'd like the tank bag, but I don't want to pay that much to get my hands on one.
I'll see if they are willing to ship it over via the slow-boat, otherwise I might have to ask one of you for help.

Hi V - I got the Oxford tail pack from M&P a couple of months ago. Like most oxford stuff its is reall well made. They also chucked in the tank conversion base (comes with magnets and strap on) so i got about £85 worth of stuff for 39.99
Fully expanded it is a bit too tall for regular tank use so I guess it depends on how much stuff you have to carry. In it's standard shape it is fine on the tank.
Check out the M&P website they may still be available.

Just checked M&P. If you can live with Red or Blue you can buy the Humpback tankbag for £29.99 and the tailpack conversion for another £24.99. the bags (tank or tail) are exactly the same they just zip to a different base unit.

Thanks DavShill.
I'll wait and see what Rocket Centre say about different freight options.
If they can freight it out here for less than 40 quid, it's going to be cheaper than buying the Oxford tail / tank bag at the local bike shop. (AU$200 for the tail bag alone!)

Hey all,
Rocket Centre don't look like they want to come to the party with a cheaper freight option.
So I might just have to let this one go. Unless one of you would be good enough to buy the bag for me and ship it to Oz? (Don't worry - I'd send the cash
before you buy it.)
Cheers.

Gio: Got the PM - will reply in a moment
FM: If I'd known you had a tank bag, I'd have bought it.
(And thanks for the character reference, too. It can be difficult for newbies like myself to get recognised / 'known'.)
