Howdy folks!

I'm in the market for a Falco and wondered if you experts had an opinion on this bike...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/54-PLATE-APRILIA- ... 0094152196

I've not seen a green one in all my looking yet... any ideas?

Also, wondered if you could proffer some opinions on this red one as well:

http://www.platinummotorcycles.co.uk/Ge ... 7&pageid=2

Seems to have lots of shiny bits!

Also, whats the crack with the two different forums?! I've posted a similar message on apriliaforum.com as well, is there some kind of rivalry or something?! :smt002

Hi Hornetrider

Welcome.

You just don't know how rare those green ones are. My understanding is that only a handful were ever made (and that's a hand with some fingers amputated too!)
Exclusive as anything!
I saw one once .... but only once.
Official fighter cans are nice too - and Skidmarx bellypan is good.
I guess the only downside would be if you ever needed to get replacement plastics.

As for the 2 forums - yes we both exist - many of us belong to both. the AF1 forum has mor of a USA focus and we are more UK based - but we try to welcome people from everywhere.
The atmosphere is different on the 2 sites - some prefer one, some the other. I'll leave you to form your own views - you'll find me in both places (but more often on here).

Actually looking at it a little closer it doesn't seem to have passenger pegs. Is this usual with high level cans? Is there supposed to be a seat pad under that hump?

Yes, you often lose the pegs with high-level cans

The seat pad is separate - it's removable, and you install the hump instead. 5 second job to swap them over.

Welcome, by the way :smt006 Drinks are on you in the Virtual Bar

Check with the owner - they may have the standard cans and passenger pegs. If it's a problem, I think the Fighter Hi-mounts are quite sought after - you should be able to sell them and fit a set of standard mounts (I really wanted some Fighter cans once .... but I'm sorting out a single pipe mod now ....)

Congratulations - you're in for some fun ... especially if you've just jumped off a Hornet (nothing against Hornets but the Falco is something else - a secret that few people know about).

As for the official passenger pegs for the Fighter cans, they are listed up here (although not cheap):
PillionPegs

They look better than in this picture!

Thanks guys!!

Yeah done lots of research and elimination of requirements to end up at the door of a Falco, I guess you all did the same to a certain extent. The fact there aren't a bazillion of them on the road is a major part of the appeal for me, and this bike looks so clean with some nice looking extras, well it just ticks all the boxes.

I do love my Hornet and have done quite a lot of mods to it, its kind of in the blood really, messing with toys! I'll be keeping it too so now I have a 2 bike garage - woohoo!
