Ducati tools

#1 Post by paddyz1 » Sun Jun 27, 2010 12:37 pm

Having been let down by ducati manchester and their inability to replace a damaged part through warranty i have decided they will never get my custom again when it comes to getting the 695 serviced. I will however buy parts from them if i cannot source them elsewhere.

Now Ducati's are new ground for me and i have never worked on one before. The bottom end is really no different from any other 4 stroke but the valves are a different thing all together as well as the cam timing procedure.

So....Do i need to buy any of their tools for changing the belts and setting the valves up or is there home made alternatives that do just as good a job. The cost of these tools will pay for themselves after a few service's.

This is the first bit of research but i will be visiting ducati forums to get a better understanding of the 695.

You can make your own bevel holders

The ducati owners club gb has a loan system for a nominal fee - I would suggest that joining the club, hiring the tools, copying them - an easy job I believe, may well be worth while

And re belts - think that Renault cam belts are the same and a lot cheaper

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
