It lives again!

Managed to get time and tools and have finally got the GPZ back up and running. A slight misfire, well, spits slightly every 20 secs or so, but ill have another fiddle with the carbs, make sure theyre crap free, and check all the HT Leads and connections, make sure theyre all tight, but for now, it's running and rideable.

:smt001 A good ending to a good day, we had the scan on the incoming sprog today and it is going to be a Boy :smt001 That's more expenditure, leathers, helmet, gloves, bike, to put on the shopping list for when it's 4th birthday comes up! No bloody Dolls or Hannah Montana! whoohoo!
Just got to find a name for it, although Valentino, Nori and Jack keep falling on deaf ears with Mrs K

Its running quite sweet for an old girl and sounds lovely, bar the slight sniffle. :smt005

Camchain tensioner is quiet, valves sound sweet and rattle free (bar the normal ) Think the starter needs an overhaul as that doesnt always engage, but for an 84 Ninja, I dont think it's doing too bad.

Sounds better than the 08 plate Ninja next door...

Bet you'd like this 1100, it's even older!

It looks really tidy though, reckon that price is around £1600, not bad I suppose.

have you considered a roman name??

Like Biggus Dickus?

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Managed to get it running better, No 1 cylinder's sparkplug recess was more akin to a swimming pool, this was shorting out the lead so giving the sniffle
Have dried it out and all is a lot better although im going to have to pull the carbs and overhaul them.. riding along there is a distinct pregnant pause before lightspeed is attained and as this model wasnt fitted with a flux capacitor, it's clearly a carburettor problem. It's quite funny, engage throttle, count to three and whooooosh!! off it goes like a scalded cat. Normally it doesnt do that, it just goes off like a scalded cat from the off, so there is definately problems inside the carbs. Oh the joys of a bike that's been stood for too long!

I hate stripping banks of carbs. :smt011

Here's something to try before you go that far - cos it's prolly the 'varnish' from the stale unleaded. Try some 'fuel system cleaner' - when my Kwack had the same symptoms I was told to use that, good high dose, every time I filled up till it cleared - and it worked!

Beats getting the carbs off any day!

Stripping carbs? :smt012

Had a prob starting the cibber after overhauling the front calipers the other day.
Today I got around to desludging the tank and carbs, a job made much easier with the use of next door's compressor.

I won't ask you to guess what I finally extricated from the tank cos you never would!
This is 7" long.

BEATS me! Why it would be in there. Maybe it used to be a racebike and they filled it up from DRUMS of fuel?

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the saddle.
