Problem with Falco cutting out.

Kill-switch, when cracking the throttle?

Thanks again folks, my main guess is the side stand switch, just cannot see why it now has a delay.
Nothing to do with the ride off as I start up a steep bit of hill to where it first stopped, then the next few attempts were much nearer level then level etc., and each time it would run OK in neutral, eventually ran it back down to the house in neutral and still running OK outside the garage until I killed it.
Probably get something done at the weekend, as working late on a major project at work most of this week. Will get the belly pan off, look at the side stand wiring and wire out first, then progress from there if that fails.

It turned out to be the side stand switch.
Not sure how it managed the 10 second delay before cutting out, when I tried to ride it last week.

Moved the side stand around a bit and got it so it would cut the motor instantly with the stand down.
Took it off and, being a 2001 model, it was one of the switches with the plastic pin, so did well to last this long!
Couldn't seem to find an easy way to follow the cable route and find the plug to mod the wires, so carefully filed what was left of the pin down, so it would no catch in the hole and work the rotary switch. Turned the switch to position when stand is up, and jammed it up so wouldn't easily move, then greased the face well so stand would not move it round, re-assembled and fine. probably not the best botch up, but no replacement in my spares stock, so need to order a new switch and just had to get out in that sunny weather.
Also modded the stop on the eBay side stand, (i.e ground it down a bit), so it now folds away a bit further, I have had no other problems with it,
so reckon it is a good replacement.

A new switch may not be necessary.

On mine the plastic pin had disappeared. I drilled a small hole and threaded in a length of stainless bicycle spoke cut to an appropriate length. It works fine.

I have lots of spokes if you need one

I was thinkin of doing that, but struggled to find something I could use for a pin. Must admit the sun was shining and I just wanted to get out on the bike, these days I'd much rather be riding than fettling. Other problem was that I couldn't easily find the first wiring plug on the loom so never managed to disconnect the switch and take it off the bike. Not easy to try and drill when there's only a few inches of play and can't really get it into a position against something solid where it would be easy to drill.
Crap excuse I know, but as I said the sun was shining!
Will check price/availability of a new switch then might have to look at modifying with a new pin. Seem to remember they used to reasonably quick to get hold of, will check Aprilia Yorkshire and rest when I get home tonight.
