Fantasy Supergroup!

#1 Post by katie1 » Mon Nov 02, 2020 10:24 am

Not saying I'm bored but decided to create my own fantasy supergroup :smt002

Sure it's been done but thought I'd put a little twist on it. Instead of saying who I think is the best ever, the band consists of those who played my favourite parts of songs. Other people may be better at what they do overall but hey, it's my game! :smt003

Be good to hear what others think would be the best band? If nothing else, it's a chance to have a nose at music you may not have heard before :smt004

Lead Guitar – David Gilmour – Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd)
Bass Guitar – Neil Crossley – Time Flies By (Half Man Half Biscuit)
Rhythm Guitar – Joan Jett – Bad Reputation (Joan Jett & the Blackhearts)
Saxophone – Wesley McGoogan – Will You (Hazel O’Connor)
Female vocal – Clare Torry – The Great Gig in the Sky (Pink Floyd)
Male vocal – Seal – Kiss from a Rose (Seal)
Drums – Clive Burr – Sanctuary (Iron Maiden)
Accordion – Johnny Kongos – War (Kongos)

I like this idea. I like it a lot... The only problem is I could have multiple entries for all of the instruments. I like the lead guitar and rhythm guitar fudge... :smt003

What can I say, I'm a 3 guitar-group girl :smt004

And there was no way Joan Jett wasn't getting into my fantasy

Erm, fantasy band of course :smt002

OK, here's my selection based on what has popped into my head in the last five minutes. Ask me tomorrow and it could be completely different.

Lead Guitar - Jeff Beck - Cos we've ended as lovers (Jeff Beck Group, song composed by Stevie Wonder)
Rhythm Guitar - Keith Richards - Any Stones record you care to think of
Bass Guitar - Norman Watt-Roy - Hit me with your rhythm stick (Ian Dury and the Blockheads)
Drums - Keith Moon - Happy Jack (The Who) The most explosive drummer Live that I have ever heard.
Saxophone - Rafael Ravenscroft - Baker Street (Gerry Rafferty)
Male Vocal - Frankie Miller - Ain't got no money (Frankie Miller Band) The voice that made Otis Redding's widow cry
Female vocal - Merry Clayton - Gimme Shelter (Rolling Stones)
Keyboards - Bill Payne - (Wait till the shit hits) The Fan - (Little Feat)

For Rhythm guitar I could just as easily have substituted Wilko Johnson (Dr Feelgood) and for Bass guitar - Jerome Rimson (Roger Chapman and the Shortlist) or Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads).
