I'm getting to the point where ...

.... I simply can't be arsed.

So, the Factory motor has been sitting on the bench for the last year of so, camshaft indexing done on the front cylinder but not yet on the rear.

The plan is to swap the motors over, but this will involve dicking around with the stator etc., but I've already done the cam position sensor job on the 'new' front head.

But, time, tide and a demanding Supreme Commander mean that time is limited, so would it be quicker just to swap the heads over with the Falco bottom end in situ - or am I being a bigger dick than normal? Is the RSV gear change really reversed, or does it operate as normal with the Falco linkage?

I'm still playing with the RG in the meantime.

I'm halfway there on Pastis harhar.. If you're into that then Henri Bardouin from Waitrose (£22.50) is what you need.

Anyway, Pops, what shoudl I do - heads, whole motor or just fuck it and go 2T mental for the summer?

In August I will be 62. Am I too old for all this shit?

Greg, stand in front of a mirror, slap your self round the chops and say " I got a bit ambitious there old son, this will take a little longer than estimated. I do not look like or think like Donald Trump so all is good !"
If you now need a small stepladder to get on any of your bikes, then yes you may be getting a bit old for it. If not , do it !
Not qualified to comment on the tech spec stuff, some grown up will be along with the answers soon

Well fuck it how fast do you want to go, I'm less than 10 years younger than you and top end isn't my aim, quick in a corner is what floats my boat, so bung the heads on the Falco motor and wring it's neck

It is the morning and my old bod is now Pastis free ..

I know it's not all about the top end, but how you get there. I'm a complete wuss, but the bike is capable of far more than me - Penske triple clicker rear shock, rebuilt forks, PC3 (zero settings, but only in place for the quick shifter..) blabla...

In August I'll be 62 as well ..... but only for 2 more months.
There are others here older than us .... and don't forget Len Vale-Onslow was still riding past 100.

..... you've hardly started yet.
