Mine gave up interpreting the temp signal from the sensor and started making up any old crap so I had to let it go.

Please let me know if you've got a spare you'd be willing to part with.

I'll be back in the UK over Christmas so I can get it delivered to my parents address to save postage.

Cheers

you sure the sensor itself isn't bust? never heard of this as a problem.

they don;t like a power wash being directed at them, if this is the case then the bike will go into limp-home mode

check the sensor itself - the resistance values should be in the manual

plug the diag wires together to check for a code

Cheers Banjaxxed, I never did connect the diag wires.

Changing the dash was the easiest thing to try (I had a spare one) and it worked.

I used a few resistors to check the dash but didn't have the exact values required to emulate the tests in the manual, I attempted to interpolate from the table but nothing matched up, so either the dash was buggered (possible) or the sensor doesn't provide a linear scale (much more likely).

Anyhoo, the replacement dash seems to be telling the truth, whereas the removed dash is lying like a mofo.

It does seem unikely and it took me a while to find others that had similar symptoms, I think only two ocurrences on AF1, but they were fixed with a replaced dash
