The SPs were completely different to the standard Mille, and very little is/was interchangeable. This is true for suspension as well as engine. The SPs are also as rare as hen's teeth.Yellowperil wrote:IJust a quick query, any idea what Black Magic cossworth cast upon the SP the give it more power than the same year milie?
Millie power from falco engine

You say you want more bhp, but don't want more straight line power and only seen 140+ once.....
So why do you need more power?
If you're not going drag racing, best spend on any bike, as has been said, is to sort out your handling. Static sag to start with, then tweak your suspension settings one at a time, or spend money of fork set-up for your weight (with riding gear on) and a better shock, properly set up.
More acceleration is available pretty much for free with the 15t sprocket option too.

These are not the Droids you're looking for...

Yes only just under 150 because that's all I seem to be able to get out of her, funny you might mention drag racing, I'm actually participating in NSA sprinting this year but not on the falco, on a 1986 VFR400 it's been light weighted so far and is pretty good for its class!
However the falco I would like to have a bit more power, as I mentioned before it all ready handles well, or at least I like the way it handles and if anything I think it handles better than it goes.
The 01+ rsv heads and ex system seem to be the way I'm going to go as it's accessible and a reduction in final drive gear ratio seems a valid possability too!

Forza chip, fuel cans no baffles that's it as far as performance tweeks go.
Fully serviced last month new plugs, air filter 15/50 fully synth silkolean!
Fully derestricted, air box snorkel removed, wire on ecu cut
23,000 miles on the clock
Makes 102bhp at rear wheel, approx 116 at crank.
Dyno'd last month :)

Think I might put my bike back to standard.Yellowperil wrote:Forza chip, fuel cans no baffles that's it as far as performance tweeks go.

It made 106 BHP at the rear wheel before I started to fit an air box and cans

Tolerance will be our undoing.
Different dynos - you can't compare.blinkey501 wrote:Think I might put my bike back to standard.Yellowperil wrote:Forza chip, fuel cans no baffles that's it as far as performance tweeks go.

Pete - I think the "snorkel remove" is more likely the restrictor plate under the air filter - I guess the tube on that can look a bit like a snorkel (probably moreso than the bit we tend to refer to as the snorkel)

I believe they willYellowperil wrote:Yes quite right it's the bit the air filter sits on, it was removed prior to my ownership.
So will the 2nd gen rsv factory heads fit on my falco engine?
Don't forget that Gen2 bikes have a 4 stud exhaust mounting rather than the 3 stud of the Gen1 and Falco

The stud issue ain't to bad providing the diameters of the pipes are the same, I can get new flanges made as I'd like to keep the twin cans, I've read that the 2nd gen need a cam sensor installing on the front head to run on the 1st gen bikes, also are the falco Throttle bodies large enough or will bigger ones need sourcing?

If you really need more power, talk to Griff about one of his 1060cc big bore kits.

i am going to say it so...
I am not convinced by the forza off the shelf chips....
i would look at an air box mod, and possibly a mid pipe mod - then fit a gabro chip made to that spec

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
