In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

That's a nice clean bike.

I wouldn't worry about the cans as long as they make a nice rumble :smt003

The 15T sprocket is a popular mod, although the bike is quick with the standard one as well.

Yeah, sorry about your weather there guys (snigger), we are having a very warm early summer here, so gonna make the most of it, mind you, as most Kiwis will know, Nelson has just about the best climate in the whole of NZ, lots of sunshine all year round! and brilliant roads. :smt004

I like the colour of the bike, tho it has faded to near pink in places!, so thats why I asked about the "R" models.
Anyone seen this paint scheme before and what model is it?

Ah - don't think that colour scheme has actually ever been on a Falco.

There's a guy on the AF1 forum who had an accident and is now disabled who has made some very impressive alternative colour schemes for the Falco. If I'm not mistaken, that's one of them.

..... If only I could remember his name .....

Here you go, I knew I'd find it in the end.
His username is fabiovicenti and he used to work for Aprilia in their graphics department prior to his accident.

Links to his stuff on AF1:

He also has his own website - the Falcos are halfway down the Futuras page :smt009

Welcome Alan.

Looks nice as it is. Sure a paint job would be peachy but then you'd get upset if you scratched it putting bags and stuff on it when using the thing.

Something to be said for a few marks and a few miles on the clock!

the real winner is black :)

the falco had no real changes bar a few minor changes in 2000.5 - changes to inlet snorkels etc - ie very minor things

oh - and later models had marzocci forks rather than showas and a few changes to the switchgear....

(I have probably forgotten something but - nothing major!)

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
