RTFM?

#16 Post by Blackranger68 » Tue Aug 23, 2011 8:43 pm

Thanks guys for your wisdom, I give it a crack and see if it helps.

I am a bit confused though with the technical abreviation of RTFM? Cant think of any mechanical knowledge that would fit those letters.

There is also the issue of where do I get hold of the needle jet for the slave cylinder should all else fail?

thanks in advance

Oh I have managed to get a shock and linkage from Tash RSV that he is breaking, hopefully that will sort the wooly suspension

Can anyone tell me is this an easy replacement for the blue shock and linkage?

RTFM = Read The F-ing Manual

:smt017 errr .... not sure what you mean ........

Do you mean the clutch oil jet ? (nothing to do with the slave)
If so, any Aprilia dealer, Ultimate Parts or Griff at Aprilia Performance

Bolt on job. Easy enough to do but you will need to support the bike from somewhere other than the swingarm - eg from the swingarm pivot using an Abba or Ulti pro stand - or improvise.

If you don't have such a stand you may find a forum member near enough who has.
Where are you based?

Yes thats what i mean clutch oil jet.

Where does it fit, the master cylinder or the slave cylinder?

I live in Norn Iron, a little place called Ballymena.

Ah - not so easy for most of us to pop round and lend a hand and equipment then!

The clutch oil jet squirts oil on the clutch itself - so it's not anything to do with the hydraulic actuation system (master / slave cylinders etc) but fits within the crank case (behind a screw not far from the slave cylinder)

This is the jet (along with some tools)

Here's where it goes (behind that screw):

In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

meh - my high-milage old nail had many problems - largely due to low-level neglect :smt016 - but neutral was always reliable from 1st.

Home of Yer Maun himself, if I'm not mistaken. A great man and sorely missed.

is this something that benefits all falcos or did the later ones already have this changed... can't remember where I read that but i did read it somewhere :smt002 :smt017
For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

From memory the later Falcos got the first change in jet size (was it 75 to 60 ?) but certainly only the later style RSVR/RSVR Factory + equivalent Tuonos got the 40.

Again .... I could have remembered incorrectly ..........
