Yellow spring Sachs advice sought...

Just got my new, (to me), yellow-spring Sachs shock and before I fit it, (this weekend or the one after), I thought I'd ask fer advice from anyone who has already done the swap.
Anything I should look out for/be aware of?
I intend to see what the OE linkages are like with it first, (Im sure someone on ere has done the same?), and then get the later RSV ones if necessary.
Im gonna try the shock as is, (its done a claimed 3000mls compared to the
21000 my blue-spring Sachs has covered so it
should feel a tad better!), and then get it refurbed if /when it needs it.
I want the rear raising a little from where it is now as the swinger is a tad too close to the battery box fer my liking.
Anyone got the settings fer it? Im 11 stone(ish) fully kitted and consider myself a fairly fast road rider. There
may be the odd track day, though, as the song goes; "Moneys too tight to mention" at the mo, so I'll be lucky if I get one this year ...
Thoughts/advice?...

FM,
Try this 2004 RSV manual it should be a yellow sring on that year I think -
http://www.serviceaprilia.com/public/lu ... lle%202004
The Falco version off the same site gives the standard settings. That's where I started with my White spring, then just set the sag for my weight, (bit heavier than you!). Standard settings might be about right for you, as Aprilia "standard" tends to be pretty firm.

FM,
If you use the Falco linkages you'll end up with a Space Hopper
You need the Mille Linkages. Been there, done that etc.

Bollix.
Was hoping to fit it this weekend.
Are the Mille linkages from 99-03 the same? The shock Ive got came from an 01 RSV; Does it have to be a set of 01 links?
Anyone on ere got a set they dont want/need???

Up to '00, the white spring shocker used the same links as the Falco, from '01 (actually '00.5 if I recall) to '03 the links changed to match the yellow spring shock.
You need a set for the '01 to '03 (inclusive) model ... or Tuono up until the new shape came in ('05 ?)

but someone on here say they had fitted the yellow spring shock without the linkages, had it set up by a professional and everything was lovely

It was Moose in this thread:
https://www.ridersite.com/viewtopic.ph ... ight=shock
I hear what he's saying and certainly wouldn't claim to know more than his suspension expert but, for myself, I'd prefer to stick with the tried and tested route of changing shock and linkages together ..... It certainly worked for me.

Cheers DR.
PM sent matey.
Im gonna give the yellow spring a try with the Falco linkages tomorrow, (Sunday), and see what it feels like.
I'll test ride her, (weather permitting), and change back to the blue spring if I dont like it and post up on ere...
Ta fer the help chaps!
PS; Anyone know of anywhere up ere, (Durham/Newcastle/TheNorth), that can set up shocks properly? Would be nice to do a ride in/set it up/ride out kinda thang rather than sending it away somewhere fer a while...
