Decided to drain the Fuel and fill it with 98ron stuff, and stick to that in the future. I'm at work so can't have a look, but whats the easiest way (trying to avoid a mouth full of petrol). I've filled the tank and did about 40 miles, so they should be quite alot left in.

I know it seems paranoid, but I can use the petrol somewhere else, so all I'm losing is my time.

Well you could use one of those plastic tube and hand pump gadgets. About £5 from motor factors. Takes forever though.

Presumably if you disconnect the fuel pipe from the pump it would drain out there ?

The easiest way is a length of hose through the filler cap, if you use clear hose you can see it being drawn off. You will need a piece long enough to fit into a can on the floor with a loop suck or use a bicycle pump to start the fuel flow, then just hold the end in the can you may need a 2nd can depending how much fuel you have.

Are you wanting to doing this because of the fuel doggy scare gazuk?

In the past I've always removed the fuel tank, cos you'll also want to clean the internal filter as well (well all Hondas have them)

Disconnect the white coupler in the return line, disconnect from the throttle body end, re-attach the coupler.

This is how the book says it is to be done, but the return line is short so you might want to have another tube pushed on the end so you can get it in a container on the floor.

Also you'll need a small jubilee clip to re-attach the return hose at the throttle body (assuming you've got the OE aprilia clip at the moment, which is easiest to cut off).

You still can't remove the tank 'coz the fuel feed line doesn't have a coupler. You'll need to unbolt one of the banjo's to get the tank off and use new crush washers when refitting. I would recommend the throttle body end. I've done it at the tank end and it was a bitch to put back together.

Yup. Looking at the map there do seem to be a few reports in my area, and they say it takes a while to appear, so there may be more. JUst filled up from Tesco on Wednesday morning.

I know it seems paranoid, but it shouldn't take long and I can reuse the petrol. And it it did happen, I would just be kicking myself for now spending the short time draining the petrol.

take a couple of litres of the new fuel with you

get up early on sunday

ride to newark

when you run out of petrol, stop and put the other couple of litres in

find petrol station

finish ride to newark

brag about colour of falco

ride home

Careful if you decide to take a nearly full tank off....the petrol moving about in the tank can make it difficult to handle, and if your a knob (like me) you might even drop it mind you it was a Suzuki so no harm done!
