Blistered wheel

Has anyone had a problem with the paint on the wheels blistering.
My rear wheel is blistering for about 2" around the valve.
This looks like water has got under the paint and corroded the wheel.
Has anyone any knowledge if this will blast away and re-powder coat, or will it mean a new wheel down the line.

I had both wheels blasted and powdered by NB coatings in Pontefract 01977 600283 for £80. They did a very good job and masked all the disc faces etc, you do need to remove the wheel bearings.

My front has done the same. My local dealer also told me there was load of corrosion on the inside of the rim especially around the valve when I had a tyre change. It meant the last tyre never sealed properly and needed constant topping up. They cleaned it up for me and so far the new tyres seem to be staying inflated OK.

The valve in my rear wheel had corroded in place the other week. Found it when I was stripping the wheel down for powder coat. I wellied it out with a big hammer and punch and got em sandblasted and powder coated. No more corrosion.
I can't see the corrosion getting to an extent whereby you'll need a new wheel as its alloy so will only be surface degradation, it won't rust like steel. I'd either rub it down and touch up or get em powder coated. (powder coat and you can change the colour!
)
