I tried to open my seat cover today, put key in, turned, nothing, seems that the cable might have come off/broken.

Anyone know how to get it open and fix it without breaking anything?

Sorry if I state the obvious but have you tried pressing on a cover really hard from the top while turning the key? If something got trapped between rubber rests and the rear subframe it may be too tight for the lock to release...

I remember seeing a thread on this problem a while back - think it may have been on the AF1 site (hopefully it was posted after their site crashed and they lost their history) - It may be worth searching there.

From what I remember it is possible to squeeze a tool in under the seat and move the arm which pulls the catch.
I guess you could do with a picture of the catch so that you know what to aim for - unfortunately I'm at work and came in by car today. Maybe I will remember to take a picture tonight - unless someone else is able to do so before me.

Cheers.

Ok it may help you to look at the falco hand book on page 28 if you have it, you can see the lever I spoke of with the cable attached :smt002

I thought WD40 was the solution to things that should move but don't, and gaffer tape for stuff that moves and shouldn't. I thought the angle grinder was for "fixing" things :smt047

Sorted, used a small allen key to "nudge" the lever, looks like the cable had come off its retainer, bloody stupid way that latch works, it's asking for trouble, looks like the cable is WAAAAYYYY to long.

I pinched the prongs that the nipple sits behing to stop that from happening.

When removing the rear plastic you will need to remove the nipple at the key end, not a big deal.

Or another easy way is to wrap a small zip tie over the prongs to close off the opening so the nipple can't fall out. Easy to cut off for removal.

I suspect that those 2 prongs were meant to be bent in the opposite direction -away from the lock to prevent this problem. When I'm feeling brave I may try and bend them.
