Just in case its of use, Motion industries not only sell the Torrington bearings off the shelf but also sell Nitrile seals in the right size.

Cost me £70 !!!

For a full set of seals and bearings but at least I know they are as good as can be.

Just ordered a connecting pin from Aprilia Performance as one was damaged and thats another £12.

I hope there are no extra tools needed for removal / install :(

Hey D-R (or anyone else who can help!) I'm confused (no, really!).
I've found a supplier for the SKF 61904 ball races (swingarm) but apparently I need to know the actual sizes (inner diameter, outer diameter and width)?
Same question for the Torrington HK3026 roller bearing.
Anyone know what they are? :smt017

Also, just found these: http://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/advanc ... &x=23&y=11
I am right in thinking these are exactly the same as the £12 'prilla needle rollers?
Two is the magic number... ;)

Nice find Falcomunky, the link to HK1812v roller bearings is the 1st time I've seen them as a full compliment set. Not that I spend a whole heap of time searching, but I know they were impossible to locate a few years ago.

Provided the size is correct (and as I recall it the Part number is spot on) they are the parts you need.

The important part is that full compliment means the bearing is packed with needle rollers and is preferable for high load low speed applications.

IIRC D-Rider has used a caged version (not full compliment) which are better for high speed lower load applications, but he's not had any problems yet.

If you've got the part numbers you don't need the dimensions

Great find with those roller bearings for the linkages

Just had a look at the 1st post and looks like shootmyscoot found a supplier in the past, might be worth a try to save a couple of quid

Cheers for the confirmation D-R. HK1812V bearings ordered. :smt004
The reason I asked about dimensions is that an Ebay seller has the SKF 61904 swingarm bearings, but has a drop-down menu with various sizes!?!? :smt017
However, after checking out the Simply Bearings site again I found these: http://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/advanc ... 4&x=28&y=7
I figure the rubber sealed will be the best option, or am I wrong?
Opinions?
Also, are these Nitrile seals ok for the linkage needles?

The plan is to get all bearings and seals, (as well as the new-to-me swingarm and forks) in advance of my week off at the beginning of Sept so I can strip her down and get the front and back end sorted.
Figured I might as well swap ALL the bearings on the bike as they've not been changed since I bought her 8 years ago!
She's done 42 thou miles now and I have to assume they are OE... :smt009
Once again, cheer for all the assistance peeps! :smt006

Just put my back wheel in for a set of bearings at Southern Cross, was told theyll come in @ 75 quid for them (wheel and sprocket carrier bearings)

Will confirm later on but seemed a decent enough price

I did note the seals on mine were perishing, allowing water in which undoubtedly aided in the bearing's failure.. worth a check when you next pop the bike out for a run and carrying out maybe some preventitive maintenance.. I hadnt noticed but in fairness hadnt been overly looking at such things

**edit** 40 quid for the 4 bearings from Southern Cross. :smt003

After spending bloody ages looking for a supplier of head-stem bearings, I remembered the on-line shop called 'Wemoto'.

And would you believe it - they have pretty much all the bearings and seals you need for your Falco.

http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/aprilia/sl_1000_falco/

Comparative prices for the head stem bearings:

simplybearings.co.uk - £30.99 ex. VAT (per bearing, no seals)
wemoto (kit 1 - "All-balls bearings") - £34.32 (two bearings and two seals)
wemoto (kit 2 - "Japan bearings") - £40.00 (two bearings and no seals)

I am very tempted to order the "Japan Bearings" from Wemoto. Is there any reason why I shouldn't? (I have ordered stuff from them about 10 years ago and had no problems with shipping.)

It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.

And today's update:

The local (Melbourne) distributor for All-Balls bearings is

Online Racing Spares
15B / 56 Keys Road Moorabin VIC 3189
03 9553 1881

The head-stem bearing kit (2 * bearings, 2 * seals) is AU$66.30.
All-Balls part number 22-1039

The steering stem bearings : SF07A22PX1 NTN are now as expensive as aprilia dealer parts! £30 + VAT each!

I'm going to use the following 'Pyramid Part' kit, contains, bearings, seals and grease.

Only use tapered bearings if you are really sure you want to - they are somewhat harder to adjust properly and I've heard of people (Aprilia people) having problems.

I hadn't realised tapered was bad....definitely don;t want any extra hassle. I'll get some normal ones instead. Shame they have gone up in price to be inline with thge stealerships :(

No, not "bad" ... just more difficult to get right.
