Has anyone seen the MCN today. (page 5)
Evidently Aprilia have issued a warning to all people buying RSV swingarms off ebay that a company from Kilmarnock trading as Dynamix Motor Sport have been selling RSV swingarms. Evidently there was a recall by Aprilia for a faulty unit that could fail and 1892 were swapped out. Seems this company must have bought them as scrap and are now selling em off on ebay, even though they should have destroyed them.
These dodgy units can be identified as follows - On the inside of the left arm there are three screw holes, two near the top and one near the bottom. The bottom hole is the problem. Evidently the swingarm may crack starting from this hole. They are asking any people who have bought one to contact their local Trading Standards Office.
So anybody with a recent new swinger CHECK IT OUT URGENT.

Saw them on ebay a week or two ago and, given the number they were selling, thought they may be the faulty ones.
Mind you, given that the conversion to the new swinger is somewhat harder than to the earlier Mille swinger, I guess they'll get few takers ... but worrying none-the-less.

I live in Kilmarnock and have done for the last 20 years and I haven't heard of em

It's not a company, it just looks like a name he uses to flog his tripe on fleabay.

I have 2, one of which has been installed for over a year, done about 10 trackdays, 2 trips abroad and the other is for another project.

The odds for a numpty car driver pulling infront of me are a lot more scary than those for a piece of alloy splitting.

How much were they btw? I fancy another if they are going cheap

Must admit I was thinking more along the lines of Pierres opinion.
Recalls are all to often "cover yer arse" overkill.
I would have expected the weak spot to be able to be strengthened anyway.
Of course they should have been advertised as such.

OK so a visit to threaten him and relieve him of his stock, to stop further indiscretions, might be appropriate, then distribute em free to our lot.

I did think it odd the amount they were selling, but figured Id maybe sell it on fer profit, (Im happy with my '01 swinger fer the mo!).
The auction was pulled at the last minute by Ebay citing 'abuse of Ebay policies' or some such garble. I was gutted until reading this!
Guess somebody rumbled em n informed Ebay!

Still might be worth it you get it super cheap. I'd have thought it unlikely to let go in a spectacular fashion so when you see the crack start get it welded up and Bob's your uncle.

Apart from the snipers you could always send a message to anyone who has bid, stating the risks

Ive got a 2004 swingarm for my Falcuono.
It is a "bad" one but bought in Germany (very cheap ), so there are more arround.

Ive got mine fixed to be sure. I'm certain thats its strong enough now, but will regular check it as in be better safe than sorry.
Ive seen one myself which had 2 vertikal cracks (few mm's) at the edge of the hole so its a true story!

Aprilia did swap 1892 of them, so there could be a lot around that have not been scrapped. Could crop up anywhere by the sound of it.
