legal size is 9" by 7".... looks bloody huge if you've fitted a tail tidy!!!

Has there been a clampdown on 'aftermarket' number plates being made up, or can one still get them done fairly easily?

Not that I'm thinking of getting a smaller plate made up of course, oh no officer...

I use a place off Ebay. No probs and decent service.

I can dig out the name for them if you need.

The tail tidys going on at the weekend and I think I WILL GO FOR a 6x5.
Just hope it does not look to small what you guys reckon with a tail tidy too small ???

Surely we should use smaller ones on environmental grounds - uses less material, wastes less fuel in pushing it through the air and causes less emissions in doing so.

At least we should bill the "powers that be" for the extra fuel it consumes

I was told by an MOT inspector that there is no actual legal limit, they need to be legible from 15 metres. It may be BS though, he is quite...relaxed.

i've got a 8" 6" with a tail tidy and was told thats the smallest you can go legally, the lettering as got to be a certain size and min and max distances apart do'nt know what they are though.

Characters
Height 64mm
Width 44mm
Stroke 10mm
Space between characters 10mm
Space between groups 30mm
Top, side & bottom margin 11mm
Space between vertical lines 13mm

Still doesn't say what minimum size the plate has to be, but must be dictated by the size and spacing of the characters.

Sod the size of the numberplate..

if you do not have a full size sail board, with the BS stamps - you get a 30 quid fine on the spot

yes, the police chief constables did agree last year that so long as a number plate was clear and legible they would ignore it - BUT then they lost the cash from speeding, so now they wave 30 quid fines around like confetti
(Cynical - Moi? too damn right!)

I have actually got a legal plate on - and it is correctly lit - by two leds that show as much life as a necrophiliacs ball

Think mine is 6x5. Doesn't look too bad till you put it next to the standard plate and then you realise how small it is. I don't care though. I'm vain!
