VTR Firestorm Stand on Falco

Hi chaps,
After various different attempts to improve the side stand my latest is to fit a VTR stand as I read on this and other forums that's what a lot of others have done. Anyways, I've fitted the stand and the bike sits at the correct angle but........
The VTR stand is soo bendy it scares me. With the bike on the stand it's fine but if i sit on the bike as to get on it, the stand flexes so much I think it's going to snap. Have a bought a special VTR stand made of chocolate or is this normal.
Does anyone know if the stands are like this fitted on the VTR itself or if it's the way it's fitted to the falco that put's force on the stand from a different angle or summit?
Fortunately I don't travel on ferries but i'm sure if the bike was strapped down the stand would snap for sure....

The Honda stand is infinitely better than the stock version that Aprilia deemed suitable for the job.
The VTR stand I have fitted to my steed does the job perfectly.
Side stands are not designed to take the weight of bike + rider so if you are sitting on the bike for any length of time you will unduobtedly be putting extra stress on the stand.
I take it you only have "little legs" if you are sitting on it when getting on/off the bike but I think the VTR stand should be able to cope with that.
Sometimes the vibes from that big twin may cause the bolt to loosen so keep an eye on that, make sure it is torqued up correctly and get some threadlock on the fittings for added security/peace of mind.
The VTR stand should be fine under normal circumstances.

+ 1 for the above.
Not sure any sidestands are designed to take the extra weight of you sitting on it and even if you got one you trusted you'd just have to start worrying about the bolt shearing or the bracket weld going etc...

You should not apply weight in the form of body mass to a side stand, its designed to support a bike not some lardy git.

I completely agreed .... till I thought that the sidestand should be able to cope with bike fully laden with luggage and have a reasonable margin of safety.
Maybe a "lardy git" is pushing it a bit but I'd hope it could do the job.

yeah it was tongue in cheek the last bit as I haven't seen him. but luggage is not a body, it doesn't squirm about.

yeah yeah funny guys

I'm not short (6 foot) I am a bit lardy 15 stone. But it's just the way i get on the bike, I park so it leans towards the wall so I get on and transfer some of my weight on to the bike when getting on. The stand even flexes a bit as i set the bike down on it's own, i'm sure it's fine, just all other bikes i've had have had decent side stands that'll easily take the bikes weight and my own. I'm sure it's fine, just wandered if it's meant to be that bendy, don't want it snapping.

6 foot and 15 stone aint lardy don't take the abuse big guy. You don't want to sit on the bike with the stand down .............. a big feckker like you'll brek it.

that is another one of my patented mods....
(And with my WP shock my bike is a touch higher as well..... lets just say each heavy braking manouvere reduces the chance of more kids....)
