Ok, I've been looking for this viscosity in semi-synthetic everywhere in my bloody town and around, I've been to six motorcycle shops, services and dealers. They all do oils, nobody ever heard of 15W-50. One had a bottle of fully synthetic racing stuff at 60 quid a bottle. Thank you.
I tired internet suppliers too, a few of them do it, it works out like 40 quid when you add postage. Thank you too.

I ended up getting Silkolene Super 4 10W-40 semi that is available everywhere, even in barbers next door :) 19 quid a 4L.

Lessons I learned: any dealer/service I was in would put 10/40 in, not even asking any questions. Main Aprilia dealer uses fully synth 40 odd quid a bottle (that's understandable: oh, clutch slipping sir? We'll need to replace that clutch now, sir.)

I'm intending to pour 10w40 syrup in. My way of thinking is: I use the bike on short distances, do not trash her (regularly). I start the engine at least 6 times a day, each time I ride for 15 minutes. So I may get a way with it.
Plus I have got it sitting on my desk.

Is there anyone out there with a good working link to stop me?
Where do you guys get your oil from??

Fairly sure I've seen it for sale here - Putoline stuff. Same as what I've bought previously, but I got it from a little shop in Cumbria.

what your putting in is to thin mate, putoline 15/50 semi synt comp 4 thats got anti slip property's.i paid £33 for 5 ltrs.

Not too pricey either.

Seem to be able to get it at the smaller shops and offroad specialists.

I ran my Falco on 10/40 for the 5 years I had her with no probs at all, and she's still going stong. I used Putoline DX4 and changed the oil & filter every 3k

The T is currently on Shell Fully Synthetic at £8 a litre (I nearly died) but no clutch slip and the dealer uses it on the prillas they sell, so I'm going to stick with it as I now have a 4yr warranty to consider

I too had problems finding the right grade, in the end bought Silkolene 15W50 Fully synth (before reading all the advice on avoiding fully synth) and have had no problems with it. Cheaper than I expected at around £30 for 4 litres.

DK Motorcycles have Silkolene Comp 4 although they say it's fully synth

I use Motul 5100 semi 10w40...and never had a problem.

That's car oil. No good for wet clutch bikes due to the friction inhibitors that are in it.

Yeah ,I just noticed. AFTER buying. I was so excited that I found it that I didn't even read the description :D

No harm done, they've swapped it for 8 litres of 5100 which is a motorcycle semi. I think :)

Not all over my place, though. I've been to 7 shops and garages around. Nada. That's why I posted this very informative thread. ;)
