Final Clearout - bargains to be had before new bike

Fellas, I've now had a final clearout of all various Falco specific bits left over from the sale of the bike which are up for grabs if any of you are interested before they go onto the Auction of Doom......The bike's now gone but I've still got to get shut of all this stuff before I can go and put my money down on a new bike, namely a Tuono!! It won't be a brand spanker mind, but I didn't think even I could afford another bike, but things have panned out better than expected so looking forward to more of the same banter on here as always...........anyway, below are pics of some of the bits and more photo's to follow. If anyone's interested just make a daft offer by PM and I'll let you know.

First on the menu are what I originally thought were OZ Mille wheels. I bought them from eBay and was told they were Mille wheels (b*****ds!!!!) but which I've found out since are actually original Aprilia wheels from a Tuono. They're not cast OZ's but are Aprilia-made licensed versions. I understand they weigh slightly less than standard Falco wheels but look mega, as you can see. They're powdercoated black and come fitted with Ducati silver angled-valves and Pirelli Dragon tyres, which are in great nick. They had brand new bearings fitted about 2K miles ago and also come with beautiful stainless steel spacers which allow direct fitment to the Falco utilising the existing wheel spindles.....simply swap over your discs and they'll bolt straight on......I bought them as totally raw wheels, I then had them powder coated, had new Aprilia Falco bearings fitted, new valves and new tyres fitted and then had a micro-engineering specialist make the stainless spacers so i could just bolt them in. They're in superb condition and you know you want them so make me a daft offer.....

Also got a set of four brand new Denso Iridium plugs for the Falco bought from AF1 in the states and just sitting on a shelf waiting to be fitted as part of a service.....there's also a Skidmarx Double Bubble screen in dark tint for sale. It's in great nick, the only issue is that if fell off the workbench and has chipped the front slightly. It's a small one but as always I've gotta be honest. If your good with p1200 you could smooth it out, do the same on the other side and it would look meant-to-be. I was going to do it but ran out of time, as ever. Will post up pics tonight.

Finally, I've got a Mille Swinger which is in need of a little TLC to bring it back to beautiful. To go with this i've a full set of brand new Aprilia bearings and bushes for this same swingarm which were going to be fitted when I got round to it, I never did. Im prepared to give the swingarm away FOC providing someone buys the bearings and bushes....will also post a pics tonight..... leave it with yah.

Aw crap - such great goodies ... but ....

I've picked up a set of Oz wheels very cheap off ebay (but they do require a fair bit of work) .... and following what you said I must double check they are the genuine job .....

I've an Ohlins already so no need of the Sachs

DENSO iridiums .... well, a set should be coming my way FOC :smt002

Mille swinger and bearings - I've the swinger which I'm doing up - I'm just 1 bearing away from a full set of replacements and just short of a set of seals for the dogbone - so already too far advanced to benefit from yours.

However .... great news you're picking up another Aprilia .... F9 will be delighted to have another Tuono.

Welcome on board TN, I don't think you will be disapointed with your choice.
However if I were you I'd keep the shock as it is still a better one then the std Tuono job and also those wheels of yours will fit straight on your T as well.
They are not made by Aprilia but are cast OZ's. Aprilia buy these in for the std RSVR & Tuono but fit the forged ones only to the "Factory" versions.

Are you planning to buy a late model T (06 & 07) or an earlier jobbie?

Either way it'll be great to have another T owner, so far that makes 3 of us!

Screen is unmarked other than the small chip. Like I said if you were handy enough it could be sanded away, duplicated on the other side for balance then ba-dah-bing....it was used once (2 years ago) for a trip to France and has sat on the bench (apart from the fall :smt011) since then.

The swinger has some sort of rash :smt053 (i think the Dr diagnosed 'gravel') on the chain side and it'll need some sanding and smoothing but what do yah want for nowt?? Just make me a fair offer for the bearings and seals and it's all yours.

Are you totally sure? They don't have 'OZ' stamped within the recess below the spokes which I understood was the deciding factor. Feck, if they are OZ's then great but I still need all the wedge I can get so need to clear everything.

I'm assured by many including a good "Aprilia" contact that the wheels are made by OZ for Aprilia. Aprilia even with the Piaggio money are still mainly a bolt together manufacturer and I'm told do not have their own wheel manufacturing facility, hence the brembo wheels for a lot of models (inc the Falco) and the OZ's for the sportier end. Maybe this explains the lack of an "OZ" stamp, or maybe I've been given bad info.

As you'd imagine I'm loving the Tuono, the main difference apart from the riding position is the power, it has a top end which even for a fat lad like me is both a bit frightening but bloody additive at the same time. It wheelies for England (and probably for Italy) at crazy speeds which although not to eveyones taste I personally love. I've actually gone back to std gearing and it still wheelies in 3rd off the throttle. What it'll be like with the new Renegade airkit god only knows?

Roll on Summer, and don't forget to post up some pics of your new T, for about 4k you might drop on the Tuono racing model with the Ohlins, forged OZ's etc..

Yep, I'm looking forward to it, might keep the wheels though now because, as you say, they'll bolt straight on. I want a better riding position and really loved my Triumph Speed Triple but hated the lack of wind protection. Anyone got any experience of the 'old' Tuono and whether that top fairing gives decent protection on motorways (I'm off to Le Mans to watch JT come somewhere near the back in May :smt011) and don't want to have to sit at 60 mph all the way. I'm assuming it does give decent protection, could be getting a Diversion if I'm wrong...... :smt107

Old Tuono was better than the new one is if I remember well. Not as good as Falco or Fightalco but still miles ahead of Triple.

There were three sorts of wheels put on Aprilias.
1. Brembo (Falco and 'normal' Mille and Tuono) (5 thick spokes)
2. OZ's (Factory versions)
3. "OZ lookalikes" on later models (and current). Don't know who makes them, but they are just stock wheels. These are NOT sought after (and expensive) OZ's.

Anyone knowledgeable is welcome to prove me wrong. :smt003
