RSV forks on a Falco ?

Have I made a rash purchase ? Got a set of 2001 RSV forks on the way (not Ohlins) for my Falco. Massacred the fork bottom trying to get a snapped pinch bolt out on the standards. Question is, will they fit ? If so, I may be back on the road when summer appears (around October ?). If not, I may have to learn how to sell on Ebay.

I think as long as they are the Showa forks, (gold or black), they should fit. Only the Ohlins have larger diameter tops and therefore need the appropriate yokes.

Ohlins is smaller actually, 41mm against 43mm (Showa-black and Marzocchi-gold) :D
Showa and Marzocchi should be a straight swap.

I agree, it should be a straight swap. I believe the spring rates are the same too... .9 but someone more knowledgeable will be sure.
I have a set of Ohlins that were supposed to go on the bike last winter already... im sure this winter they will go on... along with the RSV swingarm... along with the Ohlins shock ... along with the Oz wheels... and along with getting a life

Is an oversimplification.
There are Gold Showas as well as Gold Marzocchis.
The way to tell is the adjusters on the fork-tops.

You learn every day! Haven't seen gold Showa yet... And that's on a bike that hasn't been upgraded (by Aprilia that is
).
That means 3 types of forks...That's nearly one change per year of production.
Guess I've got to get a life too...

Got showa at the moment. The 'Showa' stamp on the forkbottom inside edge is a giveaway. Will I get a better or same as before ride though ? The limitations of the front end are highlighted a bit after I fitted the RSV sachs last year. I have never messed with setting I do confess, I wonder if my limited ability is enough to warrant worrying about changed suspension settings.

They arrived. Not best pleased with the state of them as they have obviously been in a crash (not mentioned in the ebay ad). I know its buyer beware usually, but these are worse than mine ! I will take the fork bottom off and fit it to mine then sell the rest on ebay in bits. They are definitely falco items too, given away by the orange falco mudguard attached. Anyone need bits !!?
