Mille Swinger Bearing Removal - Help Please

Tonight I started work on the Mille Swinger ..... as I've been threatening to do for some time now .....

First job was to knock out the bearings - I'll probably replace them while it's out - but if new ones are too expensive and the old ones are not too knackered, maybe they'll get re-packed and re-fitted.

Anyway, I drifted out the ball races without any bother but am struggling to get the roller bearing out without damaging it.
Just thought if anyone had done this, they might let me in on their little secret.

TBH I'm not 100% sure the bearings need to come out but I may get the swinger powder coated and thought it better to deliver to the powder coaters with the bearings removed (I've never had anything powder coated before so again, advice from anyone who's had this done would be appreciated)

unless you powder coat, no need to remove - or that was my experience anyway :)

I just smashed the roller bearings out, theyre too fiddly to mess about with and cheap enough to replace(if you find a local bearing shop)

Depends on the company doing the powder coating but I had to seal all the threaded holes on a frame i did with small headed bolts and you'll probably have to afterwards lightly sand away the inside of where the bearings sit to get rid of the fine coating so new bearings fit back in.

On my CB400, when I had it shot blasted the bloke that did it fitted corks to all the threaded bits, he said leave them in until its been repainted.

Boots sell assorted sizes of corks in bags.

I was gonna get a blind bearing puller to get the rollers out, but ended up using Pierre's method, but probably with a little more finesse :smt002

Andy,

The swing arm I took the bearings out of didn't have a spacer between the needles and the rollers, did yours?
