Found out what happened to my horn

Don't know if you remember, I posted about my horn blowing the lights, dash and indicator fuse? Turns out that where the wires come out from the main loom and under a bracket to get to the horn, both wires had been rubbing enough on the bracket to be worn down to the bare conductors so when ever I pressed the horn button it just created a dead short.
I've since moved the horn and it's now bolted to the bottom yoke with the wires away from any sharp edges!
As it's a bit of a noddy horn as stock, I thought I'd get a nice deep tone one from Halfords. Wired it into the Falco, pressed the button and... "Tonk!"...eh? Press it again... "Tonk!"...odd, says 12v on it, no need for a relay, re-fit the OE horn, press the button..."Meeeeeep!"...Hmmm, not the bike then, fit the new horn to the Missus' Fazer..."PAAAAAAAARP!" OK, it works then. Fit it to her Tuono..."Tonk!" and blows a fuse. Arse!
So how are Yamaha volts different from Aprilia volts? Is it a current drain issue? Wierd.
