What a load of rubbish that was, I wonder whether I have been sold the wrong / right stand or not?

Basically I was led to believe (must read these threads a bit closer) that the VTR stand was a simple bolt on job, but the VTR bracket is different to the Falco one and when I swapped the stand over to the Falco bracket the bike nearly fell over. The stand is too short and a bit too far forward for my set up. I was mighty pi**ed off.

Maybe it works with the std shock but it's far to short for use with the Ohlins (mine is at max ride height) so back to the good old extended original for now.

I tend to agree after today, I fitted the VTR stand a couple of months ago, not overly impressed :smt015 and this after noon I start the bike to leave Brighton (been fine alday) and the Fing sidestand light stayed on. I thing I will look to weld up the origial and may be get one ogf perkys things. If im right all I need is some extra length on the OEM stand and the tilter bracket and all should be well

Still all this tinkering is good for the soul, apparantly :smt017

Just to offer an alternative opinion........

I fitted a vtr stand using the falco bracket and it's superb!
BUT..... I am on the standard shock.

con't rememner clearly, but with the VTR stand, didn't people use the VTR bracket as well. I thought it was just the gsxr stand that bolted straight on to the falco bracket.

I'm quite happy with the gsxr stand now, but I will be changing shock soon so that may all change. Try turning the front wheel full lock left, I dont know why (probably due to the gsxr stand being alot further forward than th original) but the wheel position makes a huge difference (full lock right and the bike falls over)

I used the VTR stand and Falco bracket and it works a treat AND I'm running an Ohlins on the rear. The only extra mod I did was to add a blob of weld to the front of the bracket to prevent it from swinging too far forward.
The ride is the reason ........ the destination is just the excuse.

Hi gazuk - the GSXR stand works well with the standard shock and even better with an Ohlins or other shock with greater ride height.

BTW my GSXR stand isn't really any futher forward than the original as I had a stop welded in the fork that goes over the bracket.

I quite like it further forward, it looks nice and stable.

BTW, hows it going with the bellypan bracket for me. Don't want to start cutting away at the bellypan till I get it secured properly.

Gaz uk

I've got a longer shock on my bike and turning the wheel makes no difference.
It's superb either way. With the old one the stand was to short and the bike was nearly falling over
the top of the sidestand. With the GSXR one it' very stable and at just the right lean.

By the way I have a technoflex shock

Now I'm confused (it isn't hard I know!) I also found the stand too far forward but no amount of weld was going to help.

Tweak, do you run your Ohlins at Max ride-height? and how many rings on the forks are showing?

The reason I ask is that either my falco is set up on the highside or I have the wrong stand, and would like to check before I post it to Goldie

Would someone be kind enough to measure the length of the VTR stand for me?, could save a wasted postage

Thanks in advance

I have just measured mine Oooer missus and it is 8 3/4inches (center of bolt to floor) or for the under 40's 225mm :smt017

Hope this helps :smt006

Deja-vu?...
Im sure Ive posted this somewhere else... :smt017
Image
The Gixer stand as compared, (roughly admittedly but you get the idea), with the OE stand.
As Bigun has already stated you get to keep the switch too, which is always a bonus. :smt003
The bikes CofG is almost past the OE stands CofG, (Center of Gravity, btw)!
Scary!
As you can see, the foot of the Gixer stand is well past the bikes CofG making it much more stable imo.
Two is the magic number... ;)

Love your double-stand solution ..... nothing like a belt and braces approach !

(yeah - your picture shows the improvement well - it really does make a great difference - definitely worth the fettling overhead)

Finally got round to taking some pics of my VTR stand conversion. ( if anyone is still interested)

Image

Shows the 2 stands. I added a small blob of weld to the front of the stand where it touches the stop on the bracket cos it swung a little too far forward for my liking. Of course it did lean over further for those who prefer it.

Image

and again...

Image

.....with wheel straight

Image

.....and turned.

I accept that it doesn't look like much of an improvement but can assure you that it has made the world of difference!!!

By the way - this is VTR stand fitted to Falco bracket - still on standard shock.

So FM has finally solved all our problems. It looks so simply when you see a quality photo like this -
You just fit two stands :smt019 :smt019
