
Calling all Falco owners with gsxr stand fitted

Ok, thamls for the relevant replies
I will adjust the preload when I have some time, but I have a thought. Look at the pictures below when the stand is down. There is a lip on the bracket that stops the stand going further forward and hitting what I guess is a stop to prevent the sand going any further. Should that stand be hitting this when in the down position?




and here's my preload. I did measure it ages ago and I think I have a few mm to go gefore I hit the max

The stand in the pics looks exactly the same fitment as mine so I've no idea why the bike is so upright. The sag is way out as standard with it's arse on the floor so maybe if you set it on the high side that might sort things - don't go too high though or it might make it a bit slap-happy. I've set mine high and the bike leans quite a lot when on the stand. As to the lug that's for when they're fitted to a GSXR, I don't think you can make use of it on a Falco.....

When you say set the sag on the high side do you mean tightening the spring more, thus showing more thread above the locking collars (I think I only have a few mm left to play with). When it comes to the sidestand, we are only talking about the static sag setting as opposed to the rider sag aren't we?. I may have this wrong, but won't loosening the spring give me more static sag but less rider sag (i.e wit no weight on the bike the rear of the bike will sit higher, but will compress more with a rider on)
Can you set rear sag using a rear paddock stand or dows the bike have to be supported centrally?
You have to totally unload the suspension to take your first measurement - your "sagless" measurement. My abba stand unloads the back but without that I suppose you have to support the bike via the frame somehow instead of the swingarm.gazuk wrote:

As I said in another post; I reused the OE switch. Just bolted it back into its original position.
Its not on 100%, (the face of the stand bracket needs sorting so the switch body can sit against it properly), but it works!
As I remember, the only work I had to do was reverse the mounting/pivot bolt direction and drill the thread out on the new stand. I could then reuse the OE bolt, (with the thread in its head for the switch bolt), using a nut on the back to secure it!

Oh, that's what gazuk meant, it wasn't clear. I too reused the side stand switch and original mounting bolt by filling in the holes in the bracket with weld then re-drilling/tapping as required. I also had to do a bit of gentle grinding of the new stand to allow the rotating switch to sit flush and smooth but it was worth the f****n around though.falcomunky wrote:Oh, and the lug on the bracket is to locate the switch into position and stop it moving with the stand!
