Only drawback is that since the arm came complete (bearings in I assume) a set would need to be removed to change the spacers and this might cause a problem. removing the needle rolers and cage would almost certainly require a new set and the other side has two sets of rollers that are equally awkward to remove without damage.
Unless of course the spacer comes out through the rollers, fingers crossed.
If not a cut down spacer is looking like the more attractive option.
Falcopops,
You did it again..
I knew there was some picture I had seen before about spacers. But I was not sure if I had to change the outer spacer (as Pierre states: shaped like a top hat
), or if there was one inside the swinger.
Only problem is getting the damn thing out. So Oh Great one
, or anyone else for that matter; are these rollers easy to get out (safely), or is it easier to go buy a new set (if so wots going rate - 30quid each?), or should I take the swinger to a garage and get em done ??? oh choices choices.
I just wanna get the bike on the road again. Still got new chain n sprockets to fit, new exhast gasket (rear), front Ohlins forks and need some screws to hold the plastic chain runner on the swinger and the hugger.
Then I need to get the side stand mod done and braided hoses fitted.
At this rate it'll be 2yrs before I get done
And I would love to meet up with some of you one fine day this year, if I ever get these jobs done.
regards all.

I thought it was confusing after I wrote it too.D-Rider wrote:.... so how would that help ..... surely you would need to remove it to cut it down - so it has to come out one way or other.
I mean take out the mille internal spacer and replace with the Falco internal spacer.
I've taken the needle rollers out and the're a pain, but I wasn't using them again so they were destroyed. You can get blind bearing pullers, probably best to get someone else to do it as they cost about 80 quid (just noticed there's no pound sign on an Ozzy keyboard, unsurprising I suppose). I wouldn't be inclined to reuse a pulled set of bearings though, but getting a new set might take a while from Aprilia, cost about 12 quid IIRC.
It's me again, with another question.
I read the posting by Mark van de Boom (which I had read previously). I have managed to swap the internal spacer within the swinger, but the pivot bush still sticks out the same distance as before the swap. I have removed the rubber o-ring and this then allows the pivot bush to fit flush with the swinger.
What I really need to know is, what is the consequences of removing this rubber o-ring, what is its purpose? Although I think its only to stop the Mille Internal Spacer from rattling ???
From the Falco manual, the swingarm pivot internals are made up as follows:
(orientation looking from rear of bike to front - so description going left to right)
Nut/ washer/ Pivot Bush/Gasket Ring/Needle Rollers/ O-ring 134// Internal Spacer // O-ring 134/ Ball Bearings/ Ball Bearings/ Inside Circlip d37/ Gasket Ring/ Swingarm Nut/ Adjustment Bush/ Swingarm Pin
Anyone who has any info or help please shout, coz this is turning out to be a real b@ll$ ache.
cheers
