Exhaust link pipes.

May seem like a daft question but the link pipe above my sidestand has a flattened/detailed area, it doesn't look particularly like a simple bashbut I don't know. Should it be circular in section or not. :smt017

Yeah - this fools most people but it's a standard dent (for those of you that have exhausts on both sides).

Yeah, I can see that Nooj and that's why it confused me coz my sidestand wouldn't touch the pipe even if it was round. :smt017

Yep - it all adds to the confusion.

My guess is it's there to accommodate the longer US-spec sidestand - dunno if this is true but I think it's likely.

Perhaps the bloke with the big hammer at their factory was under-utilised so they gave him the job of making exhaust dents to make up his hours

Certainly doesn't - I got rid of mine (along with the surrounding pipework that is also superfluous) ....
