I`m having to change the rear sportec M1 after 3100miles :smt012 fronts got plenty left, but I will get another M1 for the rear cos it matches. £110 fitted by my tame tyre fellah.

On the Cb1300 I have pilot power 2cts and reccomend them, hardly worn after 2K miles. After delamination on the front Conti......... never again. Finally i have got cross plys on the CBX, now thats scary, but not much choice with skinny wheels :smt002

Been through Avon vipers, conti road attack, mich pilot road 2ct and now dunlop Qualifier RR on the Falc. The qualifiers are the most impressive to date. Got 6k out of the rear mich pilot road, so far 2k out of the RR and it's holding up well (no squaring in the centre yet)

My bike came with brand new BT014's and the back ones almost down to the wear marker after 2K miles, so I'll have to get another rear 014 but after that i'll probably swap for something that lasts a bit longer.

All of this has been really helpful, almost makes me want the rear tyre to wear more quickly so I can try them out.

well that shouldn't take too long....the rear viper my bike came with lasted less than 1000 miles!

May sound a bit odd but used to run Bridgestone 010 front and 020 rear. Kept the same idea and now using 014 front and 021 rear, which gives me a good compromise.
Got 7,500 on the last 014 front and 4,900 on the last 020, think 021 is an improvement handling wise.
Previously ran Avon Azarro SPs rear 2,900 front 5,000.
Been happy with Bridgestones and stuck with 'em, use same set up on my old CBR1000F as well, even bigger improvement on that with the 014 front, as always wanted to push the font out with the 020 front on the big heavy CBR.

I have just changed from the original Metzelers to Pirelli Stradas front and rear. I've not done too many miles yet but I noticed a big difference straight away, the bike felt much more planted. I went for the Pirelli Stradas as folks on here said they were good and they came out top in the recent Bike review for sports touring tyres.

I too have tried many makes of tyre. I am currently on my second consecutive set of Dunlop 208's and have a new set 208-RR's to go on next. I have found the Dunlop 207-RRs and 208's suite the bike really well, with good grip in all weather and decent ware rates.

Bridgstone BT 010/021 were good too (although I high sided on 21's on my ZZR600). Best tyres I ever had (on my ZZR only) were BT 012SS, but they were shot after 1500-2000 miles. Allowed silly lean angles in pouring rain :smt003 . But ooohhh what a tyre. :smt007

I found Metzler Sportec M1's worked very well on the Falco too, in fact still got a part used front awaiting a new rear to finish it off. Very good grip and life.

Also loved the Pirelli Dragons, superb grip and decent ware rate. Gave good turn in too.

As already said, you have to look at what type of riding/travelling you are doing and make your choice accordingly. On the other hand there is an old saying, what price your life. Is it worth buying a set of hard compound tyres just because they may last 10K or more, thus save you some money, but which don't offer much in the way of grip thereby putting your bike and/or yourself at risk, or spending a little more on something that will give you more grip thus more confidence.

Subjective matter this one :smt002

I'm new to Falcos but have generally run BT020's in the past. My Falco is fitted with an 014 on the front and an 021 on the rear, does anybody else run softer rubber on the front.

I was going to put a Bt016 on the front to run with a Bt021 on the rear, but got talked out of it at CMC.
They recomended to run a BT021 on the front, and so far i'm well impressed with it, much better than the BT020.
I even managed to get the price down to £80 fitted, from £90 that they quoted.
Only had to tell them that I could get it cheaper, which was true.
TT tyres at Sheffield were quoting £83 fitted.
Only thing i'm not pleased about is the two punctures which caused the changes both within six weeks.

Conti Sport Attacks for me. Had Dunlop 207s replaced by several sets of Conti Road attacks which I preffered and got comfortable with. Now on the 2cnd set of Sport attacks. More bite, quicker drop in and less movement on the gass. Going to take some diesel or the like to get them significantly out of line. Heard good things about some others though. Them dual compounds make sense. Look to get about 4K rear and double that on the front.
Don't put off 'till tomorrow what you can enjoy today
