Isn't that what you say when Tina drops her draws?

Ahem, to get back on thread.
My thoughts on this mod for what they're worth:
The thickness of the wires going to the battery are not going to have any resistance to them so they will not drop any voltage and therefore you will not magically gain more voltage by doubling up the wires. What will drop voltage is resistance caused by corrosion on wires/terminals and dodgy connections. Now if someone was to solder an extra wire into the loom, then they would most likely also improve the connections of the original wire and solve the original problem.
And even professional electronic people have been known to sit down with a pack of highlighters and colour in circuit diagrams from time to time.
Racing is life - anything before or after is just waiting.

I did the wiring mod ages ago. Yes, it did make a difference - the bike was a lot easier to start each morning.
However, it doesn't help the battery stay charged if you leave the bike outside parked outside in the cold weather for a couple of weeks then want to start it.

As I found out yesterday.
It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.

My 2p
I did the mod on a 2000 mile old bike (like new). There was no corrosion anywhere so must have been dodgy connectors. I just got rid of all tof them and run another wire (actually two).
Now with the lights on I've got the same voltage reading as before with everything off. Well worth an hour work.

i think that since i changed the starter relay for the Yam one, it has improved starting after a lay up.
just got back from 2 week hol, didn,t have it on the optimate, and it started first time.
I have been using the optimate less and less since i changed it, doubt it would have started before this.

I believe it fits a virago plus a load of other bikes, do a search on the old site and you will find a pt no.
its about half the price of the Aprilia one, and 100 amp rather than 50 I think.
Very easy to fit.
