Good news is new stand fitted as is big improvement, bad news was switch fell to bits (you guessed it, that plastic lug had sheared off so was waiting to fail)
No worries, i will remove the switch and short out circuit, BUT at mo datatool 3 alarm is setting itself but now no response to disarming signal from both keys, so can ride it without annoying neighbours, and it wont cancel no matter what keys I press
Anyone have this problem, and do i need to take account of the alarm when performing the switch removal mod ? I'm guessing the alarm must be wired into sidestand cutout circuit ...
am off to pub to have a think .... any help gratefully received

If the battery runs low, the alarm will only disarm when the LED flashes - about every ten seconds. Just hold down the disarm button, and it will (eventually) disarm. Other was is to turn the key to set off the alarm, then press the disarm button.
If that doesn't work, then I'm talking bollocks
I've chopped the switch off, and it's had no effect on the alarm. Don't know why it would need to be wired in?

Not responding to keys which is odd .. i hate doing electrics its black magic, Will reread the datatool manual, should be the fuse but that looks ok.

Re: Sidestand Firestorm mod and datatool 3
Turns out faulty PCB on alarm, despiking didnt work and a very helpful local installer ripped it out for me for 50 quid. Shorting out sidestand circuit was doddle thanks to all the helpful advice on here, so my baby lives and breathes again.FalcoHeadbanger wrote:Good news is new stand fitted as is big improvement, bad news was switch fell to bits (you guessed it, that plastic lug had sheared off so was waiting to fail)

Recommend sidestand mod, have ohlins rear and length just right, used firestorm spring and pivot bolt you will need to use the falco bracket which isn't clear in some of the threads
Cheers to all who offered advice
