Hi all.
I was looking on fleabay for Rsv shocks yesterday and after awhile thought about Ohlins. So I went to the Ohlins site to get the right number for the Falco ( No I don't want to swap swingarms) Then I noticed the '04 - '06 R1 has the same Ohlins number. So does that mean a standard R1 shock will fit the Falco?
It looks similar to the RSV one but doesn't look like it will have the valve issue. Also there are more around, they're newer, and usually cheaper then the RSV shock.
Thoughts please

I'll go with that idea!
Seems strange that nobody found this before, I often thought that they probably don't make that many different shocks,(certainly not a different one for every bike made), and some must be interchangable, but without comparing something like Ohlins replacement part numbers, you never get to find out.
Well spotted FK.

I'm still not convinced yet. As you say, I would have thought someone would have spotted something like this ages ago.
There must be a catch. Spring rates, or technical stuff internally maybe.

I note that this has been posted on the AF1 site. The one response says :
The "Ohlins Number" he is referring too is the type of shock not the actual shock. The R1 and Falco ones may be the same configuration, but the Spring Weights may be different, the Oil may be different, even the Piston and other components may be different, depending to the bikes weight, and the ratio that the linkage compresses the spring.
In other words I would NOT suggest buying a shock for a completely different bike!!
I had a more indepth look at the Ohlins stuff and indeed the stroke lenths are different. Oh well. back to ebay for me
