coolant change
Apart from disconnecting both bottom radiator pipes. Is there a way of dropping the water from the engine whilst the motor is in the frame?
Thanks in advance.

I take it removing the radiator cap will allow the front and rear barrels and water pump to empty? would it be advisable to rinse the system out with fresh water?Aladinsaneuk wrote:Undo the caps and allow gravity to work
The hard thing is trying to get air out of the system ....

There is a drain plug on the bottom of each radiator and a drain plug disguised as a normal bolt on the water pump. You'll need to move the coolant overflow bottle to get to the drain plug - I think it's the bottom-most bolt.
Just be sure to have a big bucket handy, or remove the filler cap before you remove any of the plugs. Coolant will piss everywhere otherwise.
When it comes time to fill it back up again, just squeeze the coolant hoses a few times to "burp" them and you're all set.
As D-Rider says - follow the workshop manual and you can't go wrong.

It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.
Are there any crush washers that need replacing on these three drain points, and would any of you fine chaps know the part number? I'm going to be doing mine this weekend too and having read this it's reminded me to order some washers.
Also anyone have any views on redline water wetter? I just had a bottle delivered form opie oils that I'm going to give a go on this coolant change.

Pass me a hammer, a spanner and a cuppa
I ended up having to remove one of the rad bottom hoses to get it to drain (wasnt aware of the pump drain bolt).
The coolant I used was the colour change stuff (changes from red to yellow as it ages), nearly impossible to see in the level veiwing pipe,so I replaced that with blue stuff I can see
