Clutch dragging returns

#1 Post by furygan man » Tue Sep 11, 2012 8:29 am

I attached onto another post a few weeks ago that the clutch was dragging, the reservoir was still full so i had it bled at the local garage, after Sunday's ride out i notived there was more play in the lever and had to set the adjustment dial up from 2 to 4 as the bike was starting to creep forward and hard to engage neutral, the reservoir's still full and i can't see any leaks...any idea's

Oh yeah it's an Oberan clutch slave cylinder

I expect the clutch needs to be bled. I know it's been done but I bet there's still some air in there.

A banjo bolt with a bleed nipple fitted at the master cylinder makes the job much easier.
Even our nursing rep agrees with this now.

lol

yep

bleed it

and further to the discussion, the air bubble is likely to be at the top of the slave....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Try cracking the banjo bolt at the master cylinder with some pressure on the lever (keep lost of cloths around it to catch the fluid that will spray out) then nip up tight again.

Does the same job as a bleed nipple up top, but more messy, so rinse the area well.

Other than that, try bleeding the slave with it off the bike so you can tilt it and get the potential bubble out the bleed nipple.

do you know any freindly car workshops ?
reverse bleeder (vacuum) will sort it out in situ in seconds, they pull the fluid through from the bleed nipple, makes sense when you think of the lay out of the pipework on some motors.... from clutch pedal upward to engine bay then along/across/down/up/down to get to top or bottom of gearbox...............
