Tyre Repair - apparently some tyres can't be

I had a puncture in my rear tyre yesterday (3rd one in just over 15,000 miles on the Falco FFS).
Today I took it to be repaired.
When I arrived the chap took a quick look at it and said "That's not a Pirelli Corsa is it?"
"No" I replied, "it's a Pirelli Rosso"
"That's OK then" he answered.
"Would a Corsa have been a problem?" I continued.
"Yeah, they're too thin a construction to repair - well reinforced but just too thin"
Well I didn't know that and was very glad that I'd not bought a set of Corsas.
Half an hour later I left with a repaired Rosso but £15 less in my wallet ... which I didn't think was too bad.
