Central Locking Problems... on my car of course

Hope I'm allowed to do this
But, I'm having all sorts of problems with the locking on my Skoda Felicia.
Using the lock on the driver's door, sometimes it unlocks that door and none of the others. Sometimes it triggers the central locking (C L from now on) which unlocks 2 of the other 3 ( one of the passenger doors has always been dodgy) BUT sometimes it does nothing at all and I have to go round to the passenger side which does work and triggers the CL just fine.
What I want to know is how does the lock that my key operates actually work the CL? I would be happy to do without CL and just disconnect it but can't understand why sometimes the key won't even open the drivers door.
Am I making sense?
If there is anyone out there who is prepared to help I will try to be more clear.
Many thanks one and all.

Sounds like a dodgy electrical connection on the lock mechanism to me

either a crappy electrical connection as in contacts, or the actual sensor/sender unit is.. whats the tech word... 'Wobbly!'
And Yes, Workshop covers a multitude of sins. Car ownership included..

Do you have this problem mostly when departing the local hostelry?

The Felecia is pre-wolkswagen isn't it?
If not, it may use the same electrics as the vw where the wiring goes between the door and the pillars. My girlfriend has a mk3 golf gti as a project/show car and it had a problem with the electric windows. The loom between the door and pillar can start to break apart and cause all sorts of intermittent faults. Might be worth a look? It should just unplug then you can pull the boot back and see whats what.
HTH. Any probs, gis a shout, I'll try and help.

you have a faulty sensor in your o/s/f door it's a common problem on those cars. hope that helps.

I'm not familiar with this model but it sounds like an intermittent short circuit I have found damaged wires grounding to earth around the door frame on some cars, often repaired panels and dislodged grommets can be the cause due to the action of the doors or poor repairs, the wires can chaff through if left unprotected.
Have a look inside the recess of the door inside edges near the door hinges.
Pay close inspection to the driver door where the loom leaves the door and enters the car body some better quality cars have a protected loom or plug for when the doors are removed. look for bare wires chaffing to the car body, also check the plug connectors if present for corrosion or moisture within.
Hope you find the problem.

I think the problem is with the badge on the front and rear of the car.

AH! That is clearly the problem.
What you have is a Skoda Felecia Rally Car. It doesnt actually have a central locking problem. You are clearly just mistaken

Thats that sorted then!

Thanks to all for speedy responses. Even the pisstakes. I am obviously NOT car proud but it was v. cheap; works well(mostly) and does the job of keeping the Falco out of the worst of our winter driving conditions.
I'll look into poss. earthing faults etc and see what I find.
Thanks again

Skodas are alright.. It's just the old gits who cant see past Estelles that cause the problems.

Absolutely. I consider myself lucky that it doesn't bother me what car I drive as long as it works when I want it to.
There are so many people who have to pass up a bargain motor because it has the wrong badge on it.
Even more so when it's basically just a VW done on the cheap.
I will confess though that if I had pots of money I would be far more interested in what car I had. That's if there was any room left in the garage beside all the top shelf bikes

Anything that survives a Russian winter can't be that bad.
