ECU and battery charging question

Not my Falco.. the other bike now confined to the naughty corner of my garage.

If my battery charger malfunctioned and instead of test-charge-test-charge-etc it just went charge-charge-charge-etc and killed the battery, could this have damaged my ECU?

depends wether it put more than 12 V IN. otherwise it should be ok.

Unlikely as has been said.

If the charger has somehow been putting out significantly more than 12V (the ECU will have been designed to operate up to a greater voltage and withstand even more for a short period.

If the charger malfunctioned it might have put out some voltage spikes - which can be a killer - but with it connected across the battery, the battery itself will probably have slugged the these - if there were any.

That said, although unlikely, it's not impossible.

I think I have to admit defeat and get the GSXR taken to a dealer. Damn EFI issues! :smt013 It means incurring the cost of getting it trailered there and then coughing up full retail for parts and labour. I've prodded and probed with the multimeter and I've already coughed for new thorttle bodies, sensors, actuators... still she just gives me EFI fault codes. I can only think the ECU is shot because the optimate did die and get stuck in charge mode.
