Anyone know a suspension expert near Sheffield?

More specifically I want someone who can change springs on an Ohlins shock that has a hydraulic preload adjuster. For that (and many other shocks) you need a proper shock press. Something like this:

I can't imagine your average bike dealer having one of those in the workshop - I'm guessing only suspension specialists would be liable to. This is all part of my cunning plan to use an RSV Ohlins on a Falco without the corresponding linkages...

Any suggestions? (other than don't do it, of course...)

but is the damping/valving the same on both shocks?.....I had the same shock (falco spec remote preload ohlins) re-sprung and valved to fit my tuono ...I'm sure the guy mentioned they were not the same.

It was done at Reactive ( york) not too far away.....I think the cost for a rebuild, re-spring and valve was £160ish

D-Rider had the same concerns when I mentioned it in another thread (this one) , but I think there is sufficient adjustability in the shock to cope, and believe there are certain positives.

Anyway, without trying it I'll never know, and if it all goes Pete Tong I still have the RSV linkages to fall back on (not literally, mind....)

York isn't too far, but I was rather hoping there might be one I'd not heard about in sunny Sheffy...

Mango' - the only other one I know in your neck of the woods is Powersport at Clay Cross (used to Kawasaki Clay Cross I think). Some of the guys on here have used them and they know their stuff.

Excellent - that's a lot closer. That should suit very nicely - cheers!

Hi Mango, ring John Carr Aprilia at Alfreton and ask to speak to Sean.
He used to be at Corse Performance and he set mine up.

Hi Falken, thanks for the tip. I rang Sean and he suggested I speak to Rob Mawbey at Racing Lines in Derby, as that's where he takes stuff like that. Rob's a really nice guy and had the spring switched over in not much more than 5 minutes, and only charged me a fiver for the privilege. I'll definitely be going back there again if ever I need something doing like that.

So - result! Thanks for all the suggestions - much appreciated.
