Type of screw

I am looking for a double-sided screw... with machine threads on either end and an anchor in the middle. Similar to a dowel screw as used in wood-working, but obviously with machine threads.

Anybody know what these are called?

Think I saw one in a movie once. There were 2 young ladies and they took off their clothes and.... Oh sorry.

Its a wood screw its used for joining 2 pieces of wood together invisibly. the hex head is only used to start the connection up and as a bolster once they are together, personally I'd use a dowel and cascamite :smt001

I've never heard of one for metal :smt017
