my question is....... Is it really necessary to invest in click clamps and the special pliers or will a jubilee clip do the job.

Or........ Is it really necessary cleaning the little filter that's in there. To be honest it doesn't look like it's been touched by the dealer service mechs.

I might just leave it alone.

I've always found that jubilee clips have been fine.

I've swapped a few for jubilee clips and they seem absolutely fine. The jubilee clips typically are slightly broader bands, but I've had no problem making a seal with them.

Aprilia's own workshop manual says you can use either. I've Jubilee Clips on mine.

LOL cheers Dave but as just 1 of the 146,000 DENSO employees, I don't think I'm going to make my fortune out of your purchase (despite the weighty price of the plugs ... which I'm well aware of as we don't get any discounts or anything when I buy my own)

I prefer the 'jubilee' type clips to the clamp on type for several reasons,
you do not need to buy a box of assorted sizes of clips you will never need,
you do not need to buy pliers you will only use once or twice a year,
you can re tighten ' jubilee' type clips,
you cannot re tighten clamp on clips, if it does not secure first time around reach for the jubilee clip.
The down sides are you need room to accommodate the screw housing and if you go mad with the tightening down then you can damage the hose outer wall
